Well, I feel like there should be a thread specifically for the discussion, comparisons, criticism, and opinions of the very popular Call of Duty series.


History (I)
-Call of Duty is a first-person and third-person shooter video game series franchise, created by Ben Chichoski. The series began on the PC, and later expanded to consoles and handhelds, and several spin-off games have also been released alongside the main series. The majority of the games in the series have been set primarily in World War II, with the exception of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which are set in modern times, and Call of Duty: Black Ops which is set in the Cold War era.

The Call of Duty video games are published and owned by Activision and published for Macs by Aspyr Media and have been developed primarily by Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

The games that defined an era:
-You can't say FPS without thinking of Call of Duty anymore. The CoD and Halo series' have been constantly competing for customer attention, and are the two most famous gaming FPS franchises in the world.
While each game has been a trendsetter of its own, the true carving of the stone started with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.



My opinions:

-CoD4-
-This game, in my opinion, was the start of the greatness. This is where the multiplayer came to be what we now know it as, with the advanced leveling system, custom classes, and various levels with vast opportunities.


-Cod: WaW-
-World at War is the first Treyarch game, in my personal opinion, to achieve known success. Their infamous use of vehicles has encountered various criticism, as well as their lack of the ability to "get with it!" and create a modern or possibly futuristic CoD, which we still have yet to see.


-Mw2-
-Modern Warfare 2 is my second favorite, next to the original. This game has many features that make it too "noob friendly," and the series begins to become harder and harder to professionalize as a gamer. The title and emblem systems are introduced here, with virtually no negative criticism, though this title has been the most vulnerable to hacking.


-Bops-
-Black ops is Treyarch's most recent attempt at catching up with IW in the consumer mind. While the game has caught on with the casual and ametuar gamer, many professionals are sticking with the Modern Warfare games, and some at WaW.

I don't believe non-staff members are able to make official threads from what I've been told. This is what I think though:
Call of Duty 1: Ok.
Call of Duty 2: The third best Call of Duty ever made.
Call of Duty 3: Terrible but the vehicles were fun. It was a 6 month job I believe.
Call of Duty 4: The fourth best Call of Duty.
Call of Duty 5: The second best Call of Duty and if Treyarch fixed the very small problems it had it could be right now the greatest Call of Duty ever.
Call of Duty 6: Let down.
Call of Duty 7: The greatest and most balanced Call of Duty ever made. Still needs work though.

But if not it's a really simple fix to add "un" to everything.

I agree with some of your opinions, though I don't value cod5 as highly as you do. I agree that Bops needs work, and that MW2 was a let down, but i still think that MW2 is better than cod5, and comparable to cod4.

Are you an avid gb competing gamer, or just the casual on-the-side gamer?

 

I'm a tryhard but I don't do gamebattles. I love COD5 more than most people.

vCoD: The start of the series, was based on the story rather than MP. Great game
CoD2: In my opinion, the best CoD out there. Fun MP, fun storyline.
CoD3: It wasn't the best, but it was still fun
CoD4: Very fun, revolutionary to the warfare FPS games, went from the past to the present.
CoD5: It was a great idea to revisit WW2 before moving on with the series. I looked forward to this game and was not disappointed. I found myself playing more of the campaign than the multiplayer.
CoD6: By far the worst letdown in the CoD series yet. With the spawns, the new choose-able killstreaks that are incredibly overpowered, the unbalanced guns, etc. Even so, it turned out to be a decent game.
CoD7: I was expecting better, but it's still a fun game. However, there are many things that drive me insane.

Every day I take a visit back to CoD2 to remind myself CoD is still a good game :3

For the next CoD, I'd actually like to see a Vietnam addition.

 

It honestly doesn't matter to me what the next game is timezone wise. Anyone that's played through every CoD can agree, the farther the series went on, the more "kick" the guns got. I love playing cod4 because you can be top of the team 500 games in a row with the same class, the mp5 red dot.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3? I'm guessing you meant Black Ops?

 

I play COD Bops, got it the week it came out and have played it every day since then haha.

I've only played 1 COD before black ops and it was MW2 but since it was getting close to Black Ops being released i thought i would wait and buy that.

Commando with red dot sight, claymore, samantex, flashbang, seight of hand pro, final chance pro and flank jacket. XD

Not bad. The commando isn't bad, one of the few accurate guns in the game. That's basically what I've looked for, and i do like the commando rlx/rds

 

Soh someone tell me. Am i getting worse at these games?
Playing cod4, my KDR was 2.6... and that's not new account stuff, that's from seasoned to 10th prestige playing the entire way up. That's on my mess around account as well.
Cod5 was gay.
MW2 my kill death stands at around 1.4, which is mostly because i play SnD there, and everyone knows if you play SnD you can wave goodbye to your kdr, but still.
And on bops, I'm now at like a 1.2, wth?
I've been playing A LOT less, hitting around 40 days, 20 days, and 2 days respectively, but what's going on? Am i getting worse, or are the players just getting better?
I used to be pro then shit went downhill, but still?

 

I prefer black ops over mw2. however i prefered cod5 over mw2.

Black ops is similar to cod5, but with better graphics i say.

 

This, but I honestly didn't enjoy Cod5 at all. Also it's no where near cod 5 with all the customization, wager matches, file share, updated private matches, combat training, money system, etc. It's fixed up everything that every other call of duty didn't. Great game and I'm probably going to continue playing it even after the next call of duty comes out, unless it has the same things as this one with even more

 

I don't like black ops at all. I'm playing right now, but i hate it.

 

It also just matters by your opinion. I like the fast leveling (but there are more prestiges) and I like the maps. Some people (like my friend) are still playing Cod4 because they like it the most. They are all great games in their own ways, it just matters by how you enjoy playing Cod.

 

COD4: Best Call of Duty game, perfectly balanced, extremely fun.
Black Ops: 2nd best COD game ever, you can't just be a noob anymore, you have to be good at it to like it.
The rest: Not worth mentioning, MW2 was pathetic.

 

agreed...its all about hardcore SnD on cod 4...i still play it to this day...
i dont have time to keep up with black ops tbh...oh well i dont like it a lot anyway.

 

Black ops is...okay, but it's completely connection based. The better your connection, the better you are.

 

5th prestige

 

cod mw: i have never played on xbox 360 or pc etc. but i have played on wii (prestige edition). way too hard to control. + extremely easy to hack. pretty good though
mw2: probably my favorite. mainly because im used to the controls. at insane sensitivity level, im pretty good.
still things i dont like.
1.OMA in a corner noobtubing across the map & getting a tactical nuke.
2.spawntubing - this is why they stopped this in bops. i dont ST, but i get someone every single time.<--danger close pro
3. boosters
4. people guarding boosters

cod bops: im a stealthy-type in cod. not really a fan cause not as many hiding spots as mw2. you are always easily visible. the cod points system is brilliant, though i do know a couple of loopholes
