How To Avoid Infractions On Sythe

In this guide I will be teaching you guys how to avoid getting infractions. Tons of infractions are handed out daily by staff members, and I'm here to help you avoid getting them. In my guide I will be going over some of the most popular reasons that people on sythe.org get infractions, and then go into more detail with them. Hopefully after reading my guide you will recieve less (or even none) infractions at your time at sythe.

    What's an Infraction?
Answer: An infraction is what you get when you break a minor rule on Sythe. You may receive an infraction for one of the following things:

How do I know If I have received an infraction?
Answer: There are many ways to see if you have received an infraction lately. Sometimes the moderator that has given you the infraction will private message you telling you that you have received an infraction, but not always. If this is the case then you can always go to User CP -> My profile, and then near the bottom of the page you should see your infraction (If you have any). Here is what the infraction page looks like:
As you can see, even I have received a few infractions on my time at sythe.

    What's so bad about infractions?
Getting an infraction is not the end of the world, but it is nice to keep a clean record. An infraction is basically just a warning, but if you get to many it can lead to a ban. If you gain 5 infractions then it will result in a 3 day ban, and a 7 day ban for 7 infractions. Infractions only will last for one month, and after that they just expire. So for example if you get 3 infractions one month, and then 3 the next you are fine. Always remember that infractions do not last forever. As you can see in my infractions page I have 3 infractions that are expired, and only one active one so I still have 4 more infractions until I would receive a 3 day ban.

    How to avoid getting Infractions?
Now that we have gone over the basics of an infraction I can start teaching you on how to avoid getting them. In the next few sections I will just be discussing the more popular ways people get infractions, and of course how to avoid them.

Here is a list of some of the most popular ways people gain infractions:
    -Spamming
    -Too large of a signature
    -Ignoring the Stickies
    -Auth Codes

    Spamming
Spamming is probably one of the most popular way people get infractions. Spamming is basically any unneeded post that shows no actual thought going into the post. To avoid getting infractions for spamming try to put a fair amount of thought into your post, and don't just post random, unneeded things. Also stay on the topic that the thread is about, as the person that made the thread probably doesn't want you talking about a tottaly diffrent subject. Many people report spam that they see through these forums so don't think that it may go unnoticed. Here is an example of spamming:
As you can see here I put no actual thought into this post, and didn't say anything beneficial to anyone on the thread. To avoid me from getting an infraction I should have posted something like:
As you can see above I put a fair amount of thought into the post, and also gave him a suggestion to help him do better. This post would NOT of had me receive an infraction.

    Large Signature
Many people receive infractions on sythe for having too large of a signature. Many people do not know that they have broken this rule, as it is hard to know what is too big, and what's not. The max size of a signature is 350x650 pixels. If you break this rule too many times you will banned from having any signature at all. A good way to not break this rule is to not put any overly large pictures in your signature, and keep away from putting vouches in your signature. When I got a signature violation infraction it was because I had put my vouches in my signature, and that cause it to be too big. I would recommend putting all of your vouches in a thread here: http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=518 and then just link them to your thread from there. Another good thing to do is just ask one of the staff members if it's too big as they usually will have a fairly good estimate if it's too big or not.

    Ignoring the Stickies
This is actually a rule that I have broken recently, and received an infraction for, so don't think they won't infract you for it. What I would recommend you doing is just read over all of the stickies in the forums to avoid doing anything against what they say. If you don't know what a sticky is they are the threads at the very top of almost every section that have things to tell you basically everything you need to know about that section. Here is an example of what the stickies look like:
As you go through the forums you will see these in basically every section. Like I said before just browse through these threads, and don't go against anything that they say. A place where people normally ignore the stickys is in the suggestions section. They forget to read the sticky called "DO NOT SUGGEST" and usually, accidentally suggest something that was asked to not be suggested on that list. This is a great example of why you should always read the stickies!

    Auth Codes
This is an easy rule to follow, but is also one that is commonly broken throughout the site. Auth codes are codes that can be bought from different botting websites, and can be used for botting on runescape. Although talk about botting on runescape is fine trading Auth codes is not, because they are easily shut down. When I say shut down I'm saying that they stop working for you after a while, because people usually sell the same one over and over. The people that sell these auth codes can see this and will disable the code preventing it from working. If you are looking to sell auth codes, then sythe.org is not the place to do it!

Hopefully this guide has taught you many things about infractions, and also how to avoid getting them. Although I have not stated all of the ways you can get these infractions I have posted some of the major ones, that you should now hopefully stay away from. If you have any questions, then please feel free to send a pm my way, and I will do anything I can to assist you!

Pin Sales actually result in a one month ban, not an infraction. Thank-you for the suggestion though!

This guide is excellent! We also do infract for pin sales if they aren't deliberate (i.e. accidentally typing pin versus upgrade). The one month ban is usually for persistent users.

On the topic of the guide though, your word choice, formatting, images, and style is wonderful. The full underline on the bottom is a little overkill, and you need to be more consistent with your spacing. However, the content is perfect. Everyone has different visual tastes, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

You could have made it shorter. Just add; If you don't want to get an infraction don't post.

    :D jk, good guide.

This is a very nicely written and detailed guide, FishFishy. I love the way you've made screenshots suitable for the purpose of the guide and the overall layout of the guide is good. The material and content you posted was correct. Keep up the nice work.

Wow. I found this guide terrific. The use of font colors/bold/underlines was superb, and it was very well written. I really wish there was a guide like this back when I first joined Sythe.org. Your pictures were not only relevant, but extremely helpful. I really like how you took something that was already written in the rules, and taking it a step further by showing everyone examples of each one. I liked the signature part, because I did not even know this rule existed. I also believe that "ignoring the stickies" is a comonly misjudged rule. Like xel said, I think you should add something in about how just saying pin instead of upgrade or code can result in an infraction. But overall great job and keep up the good work. I have really seen significant improvement in your guides/posts since you first applied for user educator.

This is in no way a guide on how to spam for post count?.. I was merely explaining what the rule is meant to be for, and some examples of what would be considered as spam. I gave tips on how to give good advice though, not spam. Nonetheless thank-you for the comment, and if you want to discuss the situation any further do so through private messaging, and not in my thread.
