[Guide] How To: Link a Site to an Image [Basic]

    Hey Everyone!
    Influenza(AGAIN!).

In this guide, I'm going to teach all of you
how to link a URL to an image/signature

So, you want to have people visit your site or thread?
Don't know how to get people to go to it, simply by clicking your sig?
Follow these simple steps, and you'll have a linked signature/image.

    Requirements:
    • A URL you want visited
    • An image or signature
    • Common knowledge

Okay, I'm going to use the MMing sig I created:

So you want to take your image/signature that you have created,
or someone else has created for you, and save it as .PNG
(.PNG has the best quality, as to .JPG etc.)

You then want to upload your picture,
    I suggest www.tinypic.com

    You'll be brought here:
Follow the instructions in the picture, to upload your desired image.

If you've followed instructions properly, you'll get something along the lines of this:
You want to right click the HTML that includes the [*IMG][*/IMG] tags.
Then hit copy. Paste it into a notepad.
This will make it possible to show an image on a forum or another type of website.
*NOTE* Remove all " *'s " or it will not work.

Now that you've done that, you want a link, or URL to go to, so you can either type this:
    Code:
    [*URL="INSERT WEBSITE LINK HERE"]INSERT IMAGE CODE HERE[*/URL]
*NOTE* Take all "*'s' out, or it will NOT work
Alternatively, you can click the Insert link option on your thread:
*NOTE* A notice bar may appear at the top of your web page,
if it does, just click "Temporarily Allow", then re-click the Insert-URL option on your thread post.
Something will pop up, like this:
Now, once you've entered your desired path, click OK.

If done correctly, you'll get this in your text box:
Now, let's track back to when you uploaded your image,
Go to the Notepad you pasted the image HTML in, and copy it.

Now, where the highlighted part of this image is, you paste your image HTML:

If you've followed instructions correctly, it should look like this:

Now you're finished! The finished project:
Click this to go to the Sythe.org homepage!
Now you know how to link a site, you an image.
    Hope my guide helped.
PM me, or add me on MSN for any questions/concerns.

No problem, I've seen people asking how to make a functional donate button, it's a little different than this, I may make a guide about it.

I like the guide. Although a bit of a basic guide, I think that you explained it in the most detailed way possible. I'm sure that this is going to come in handy for some of the newer members to the site, or maybe even some older members that never knew this was a possible feature. The pictures you have presented also correspond well with your guide, and make it much easier understand.

As for the formatting of the guide I think that it could have been better. I don't like to see too much color in a guide, but I also never like to see just a guide with plain/boring text. Just remember that it's fine to go ahead and use the tools when making a guide, but you have to find what I would like to call a perfect middle in which the effects are not used too heavily, but are still there to give the guide a little bit of "pop".

Finally, one last thing I would suggest is to try and organize your overall guide a bit more. Near the top of the guide it all looks fine, but when you go farther down it just seems to turn into a mess. I would just suggest to try spacing them out more, and try using some of the tools that we have for organization such as the bullets you used at the top for requirements. This will make your guide much easier to read, and follow along too.

Besides those two things I think that your guide looked great. Your grammar and punctuation seem to be up to par, and there is nothing else I can see that I would suggest for you to do to improve your guide. I hope this helps!
