The Beginners Guide to Torrents. [Creating]

Now that you have learned all about how to download torrents from my previous guide, viewable HERE, you will now learn how to create your own torrents. This is surprisingly simple, but not many people know how to do it. This guide is here to change that.


Why Use Torrents to Share my Files?

Sharing files with torrents is one of the best methods. Are you tired of splitting large files into pieces so you can upload them to file share hosts online? Are your downloaders sick of the poor download times they get from MSN sharing or Online File hosts? Torrents solve that problem.


How to I Turn my File into a Torrent?

This process is very simple but it isn't known to many people. It can be done in a few simple steps.

1. Open µTorrent, tips on downloading this program can be found in my previous guide. After, select "File" and then "Create new Torrent".



2. Next, you will see the following box.




Explanation of this
Select Source - This is where you choose the file to turn into a torrent. "Add file" is used to add single files. "Add directory" is used to add a whole folder of files.
Trackers - This controls the connections to your torrent. In this box, you should enter a few popular trackers. Some you may want to user are...
(copy/paste this into the Trackers box)

Web Seeds - For the sake of this being a beginners guide, I won't get into these. Just ignore it, it isn't important.
Comment - This is where you will include comments about the torrent to your downloaders. You may ignore this if you like.
Other - "Start seeding" should be checked. This turns you into a seeder for your downloaders. "Private torrent" may be ignored as it isn't important.

3. Next, click "Create and save as...". Fill in the name here and save it.

4. Send it out! This is all you need to start sharing your large files.

1. Open uTorrent. Select "Create new Torrent"
2. Fill in all neccesary Torrent info.
3. Save the torrent.
4. Share.​
