    Cleaning Your Keyboard

Have a dirty or sticky keyboard? Try out my guide see the difference once finished with these 6 easy steps :D

This is what you will need:
    lint free cloth
    cotton swabs
can of compressed air or vacuum cleaner
flat tip screwdriver or a tong
pinch of water OR 1 part water - 1 part alcohol (denatured)*

#1 Shutdown, unplug computer & keyboard.

#2 Using the screwdriver, gently remove keys (don't forget to make note of their position - better yet take a photo & print out beforehand) if you have more than one keyboard, use that as your guide, as I did.

#3 Use compressed air to remove dust & debris from keyboard.

#4 Clean keyboard with slightly damp cloth or cotton swab (do not put liquid directly on keyboard!) I dipped cotton swab, then squeezed out excess liquid.

#5 Clean each key individually (slightly damp cotton cloth).

#6 Replace keys (nothing should be wet or damp).
    Heres a map of were the keys should go;

Pictures do more than you think. I think that pictures are necessary, whether its just showing a picture of a keyboard, or what you use to clean it.

I am more of a visual learner, so pictures help out a lot. They add detail and show how it should be done. I think this guide, is lacking detail, which can be provided with pictures, and just some more information.

I would give it a 6/10. Add some more details, and some pictures of the items you need, and I would rate higher because it is a good and helpful topic.

You can also buy a can of air to blow out dust etc from beneath the keys.

Yes you can, but that still won't get all the dust and dirt out as much as removing the keys.

If a keyboard is that dirty and messed up... I would just buy a new one for 20 bucks.. unless its on your laptop.
