Guide For Basic Ubuntu (linux) using

    Basic commands :
lets say you want to edit from /etc/ dir, and since you dont have rights, write:
    sudo gedit /etc/file
you can also edit from terminal
    sudo nano /dir/file

    Downloads and configuration:
lets say you need a mp3 player or a media player:
sudo apt-get install program name example:
    sudo apt-get install xmms(mp3 player)
sudo apt-get install mplayer(media player for movies)
    aisku nepamirstam ir mc(midnight commander)
    sudo apt-get install mc
if you need video drivers and you are on nvidia geforce, write:
    sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-new
after driver instalations press ctrl + alt + backspace
then in terminal write : sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
    configured
then again ctrl + alt +backspace and enjoy configured video.

    A few console commands:
cd - go to a dir, example:
cd /etc/ goes to /etc/ dir
rm - deleting for example (rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf deletes xorg.conf file(just a suggestion, dont delete this file))
ls - shows dir capability (ls /home/user/ will show that dir's capability)
mkdir - make a dir(directory) lets say you want to make a dir /home/your user/ directory, write :
    cd /home/your user/ then
    mkdir name_directory

    Connecting to root:
    sudo su
then it will ask for name and password, write that and see
    root@user:/home/user#
if you are connected to root you wont need to write sudo before every command

you need to run a file with .sh or .bin end ?
    sudo sh file.sh
    sudo sh file.bin

    Run .exe files on Ubuntu:
Sudo apt-get install wine, this will install wine software and you will be able to rune .exe files on linux.

Sorry that I don't have pictures, I'm not on Ubuntu now, I'm on XP lol.

Ubuntu is a very interesting OS, it runs very fast and you can even install it on a lame-ass pc, it wont break. Ubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.

You can download Ubuntu or get a free CD on www.ubuntu.com (if this isn't allowed i'll remove it)

Hope you all enjoy my guide, thnx.

    Great guide.
Only one thing I suggest you should add, Explain what Ubuntu (linux) is, there are some people *including myself* that don't have a clue what this program does!

Thnx <3 :) And Ubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.

I edited the guide itself and added the explanation there.
