Rules of Photography: How It Helps Your Signatures.

Now, your probably asking yourself, how can photography help me in Photoshop? Well, with 6 years experience behind me, I can say that in real life application, and with your signatures/wallpapers, knowing what looks good in a picture is just as important in knowing how to make anything in Photoshop as knowing the program itself.

I've compiled a few websites' information on how to improve photography skills, and I suggest that each person reading this take note and remember these small tips in the future when creating a signature. Sometimes knowing these tips can get you out of a graphical jam; from knowing what to do with blank space, to where and how your render should be.

    A few extra tips:

Don’t Split The Horizon - Never place the horizon in the center of the image. It creates a barrier between the two halves and the viewer will get stuck on it. Cutting the image in half with the horizon is the quickest way to ruin any photograph.

Balance - When considering what you're capturing, look through the lens and pick out the dominant subjects, like people, buildings, trees or mountains and arrange them so that they compliment each other. This can mean either symmetrical balancing, where objects of equal size are positioned on either side of the picture's center, like a manicured garden with bushes on either side, or asymmetrical balancing, where objects of different sizes are used on either side of the picture's center, like a scene of a person standing between a house and a tree. Asymmetrical pictures are often more interesting and visually stimulating as the viewer's eye moves from object to object.

A lot of useful information. I find sigs etc much more interesting when you take the renders yourself.

Wow, I just noticed how a bit of background blur and distortion can change the whole scene of the movie.

Just use your eye. It is better to not use the rulers, and just learn how to make it work for you. If you use your eye, you will develop a better sense of flow in time.

True, but for a program that costs 999$ you would expect that kind of thing.

Nice, really good. Sigs are better with real pictures (renders are cut out digitally created or digitally cut out pictures), but most poeple don't know how to photograph.

Good job triple posting Nova, figured out how to edit posts yet? Plus, there isn't rules just guidelined and helping hints here. Does it 'apply'? It's your signature not his, so it's up to you.

Wow, that is really good. I was thinking of getting into photography because I figuired it there was an image I wanted that I couldn't find on the internet I would simply take it myself also my teachers all say I have an "artistic" outlook.
