    Dragon Dyce mIRC Dice/Connection Guide!

Hello, in this post I am going to try and help to set up mIRC. Firstly I'll explain what mIRC is. mIRC is an IRC client, which is a piece of software which allows you to connect to an IRC network. mIRC is the most popular client and I am going to show you how to get into our channels on the SwiftIRC network. This post will be long, because it does take a while to set up mIRC, but once you have it set up it is very simple and easy to use.

The first thing you need to do is to download mIRC. You can do this by clicking the link below.
    http://www.mirc.com/get.html
Once you have downloaded the startup you can start the installation. The first part of the installation should look something like the screen shot you see below here.
    Click next on this

Next window that appears is the legal stuff. You got to press I agree or it will exit the setup :p
    [IMG]

The next window in the setup is where the software will be stored on your computer. It's up to you where you put this.

The next thing you need to do is choose the components. I would select all of this as in the screen shot below because otherwise you will have parts of the software missing (as I have discovered from personal experience)

Next thing you need to do is to select additional tasks. This is pretty self explanatory and again it is up to you to choose what you want.

You then need to click the install button and the software will install.

Once the installation has completed the window below will appear confirming that you have installed mIRC. You can then run mIRC from this.

Every time mIRC opens a small window appears in the middle of the screen. On this you can just click continue. It says you have only 30 days remaining, but once the 30 days are up, you can still continue using mIRC for as long as you want.

When you click on continue, mIRC options will automatically open. You will be on the connect menu; expand this menu and click on servers. Then scroll down until you find SwiftIRC. Double click on this folder and click on random server. Then press the select button.

Once you press the select button you will go to the Connect menu. When here fill in the form entering your Full name, Email Address, Nickname. (you don't have to use your proper name) In the nickname box, type in your Runescape name. Once you have done this, click on Connect.

When you connect, the mIRC favourites appears. You can ignore this or delete all of the channels that are in this. One of the important things at this point is to un-check the box that says Enable join on connect.

You can then join #dragondyce channel by ty***g "/join #dragondyce". You can talk to the leaders in this channel for help. (If you already have a registered nickname, then you can skip the next few steps)

To register your nickname, you will need to type "/ns register <password> <password again> <email address> <email address again>" as in the screen shot above. When you have done this, if you go back to the status tab at the top, which has SwiftIRC in, on the screen shot above.

You will see a message like the one in the screen shot above which says a passcode has been sent to your email. You will now need to check your email address to get the passcode.

Below is a copy of the email that I recieved with the passcode for my nickname.

You need to copy and paste this passcode and enter it into mIRC as seen in the screen shot below. It then says that you have registered the nickname under you accoutn and sets mode: +r. Your nickname is now registered. To identify with the server in the future you will need to type "/ns id <password>"
