Warning WITHOUT infraction for first signature violation

i am not a very computer smart person and ill admit that so here is my suggestion. i had someone make me a signature and after he was done i put it in my signature and went on my way without knowing that the signature was to wide. i did not know how to check the pixel size without literally googling and asking a global as i said i am not very computer smart. it was my first signature ever and my first signature offense and was infracted for it. let me state i am not disputing my infraction or asking it to be changed but i believe that since not everyone knows everything about computer use that on the first signature violation you should just receive a warning or a 1 day ban from having a signature. I hope this makes sense and maybe get some support from the community thank you.

 

I thought they didn't count and only appeared as yellow.

yes but the rules state just WARNING for the first offense i know you guys are busy and may not have time to just give a warning well if there is time to infract then there is probably time for a warning to be sent but it just sucks when you do not know anything about computers and get in trouble for it

 

You should read the rules as you join. For future reference, right click the image and click on properties/image info (depending on your browser). There you can see the dimensions in height*width format.

Sig makers should also be quite aware of the maximum signature dimensions. Please report the maker to me or Alteranz in future and we'll make sure the seller knows to follow the rules.

 

i did read the rules i knew what size it had to be but i did not know how to check it until i sent a pm to clashfan after i got infracted for it this has nothing to do we me not reading the rules

Honestly, one infraction doesn't mean much. Just consider it as a warning.

 

i just hate getting infractions period especially for me being computer illiterate. its like your work is not going to write you up if you really don't understand how to do something at a new job. i was just trying to see if anyone supported this suggestion or maybe even change the official rules to say that the warning comes with 1 infraction point.

What Spray has said in this thread is exactly what I would preach - regardless of the situation, you should have known and adhered to the site rules.
I have reversed your infraction and it can now be considered as a warning, but please remember to follow the site rules in the future.

This goes for everyone else as well - staff are beginning to lock down on numerous issues we have seen in the community recently, signature violations being one of them.

 

i do appreciate you doing that and i do try to stick to the rules i am just not very good with a computer at all and now that i know i will never have another signature violation again. i did read the rules and read the stickies almost daily i just did not have one clue on how to check the size i knew what the size was suppose to be but i just didn't know how to check i think i need to take a computer class in college

 

When you go to the direct image the title of the webpage will include the size of the image.

 

Then count is as a warning or just simply PM him. I know it may not seem like a big deal because Staff is rarely given infractions themselves, but they do add up to regular members.

 

An infraction IS a warning. Most of us normally issue a "Warning" infraction (Yellow card vs Red card) which gives no points. Either way though, the point of an infraction is to WARN you.

Also, the "Warning" infraction lets other moderators know that you've already been warned, and they can then move on to requesting that your signature be disabled the next time they see it.
