    Stay away from PhotonVPS.

They no longer "encourage" RuneScape botting. They also will not refund anyone, even though their ToS states anytime within the first 30 days is fine.

This whole thing started when my VPS kept crashing when I was trying to run 3 bots on a 2gig (WARP 3) plan. I talked to them, after they didn't do anything, I asked for a refund, and then Jimmy Lu, support rep, PhotonVPS head, and oh wait, even better, the head of Profuse Solutions (which owns PhotonVPS), denied my request saying they no longer support RS botting.

Stay away from them unless you want to be screwed eventually by them.

EDIT: I literally burst out laughing when I got this reply.

Umm, it just seems like they won't refund you after your month is up? The email doesn't state anywhere you can no longer use it for botting.

The whole reason behind it is people buying a months worth of VPS and then asking for a refund, which is the most douchebag move you can make.

Which bots were you running? It's possible that you were trying to run way too much on the W3 and Photon didn't like you using so many resources.

As I said, I was running 3 bots on a 2gig plan (should have been able to handle it easily).

Secondly, it wasn't even so much that the thing kept crashing. I couldn't even access it for several days, so I finally just said, enough is enough, I want a refund, and that is the answer I got.

Third, I didn't pic it, but he also said it's against the rules to run RS bots or other Java intensive applications. He said I broke the AUP multiple times.

I don't see a problem with anything else other then this, I thought that was only true with the openvz plans they have.

The funny thing is though, a lot of their business is probably coming from us.

Anyhow I switched over to seerhost a few weeks ago after my month with photon was up, just because they had vps in stock and photon didn't at the time, + it was cheaper. It's been good though, there was some down time with them the past 2 days but they reimbursed me 4 days automatically when they fixed things, good company.

Well, what I found funny, is first he said they don't allow RS bots. A few tickets later he changed that to Java intensive applications. A few more tickets, he says I've broken the AUP. After that, he denies that I haven't had access to my VPS, even though it's clearly shown in another support ticket where it took them several days to get it straightened out.

I also told him that a support rep told me earlier that running RS Bots was perfectly fine on XEN plans, I guess not anymore.

So I don't know, maybe they just don't like me, but I'm definitely moving somewhere else after my month is up.

Ok, great, you're running 3 bots. Which ones? You do know that a puro bot takes up WAY more resources than a woodcutting bot? It's very possible to go over 2GB ram with 3 bots. Although you said crashing wasn't an issue.

I can't really address the second paragraph as I don't know the specifics. What exactly did it say when you tried accessing it? Was it connection refused? Did you reboot the VPS and forget to type 'vncserver' in putty? That will cause it to not access the VPS.

As for paragraph 3, I submitted a ticket and asked bluntly if botting was allowed on the XEN packages.

I find it hard to believe they won't allow botting at all as I am guessing a LOT of their business comes from us botters.

@Flight: No downtime? So I guess the downtime they have been having the past few days doesn't count? I've never ever, in the month I've been using them, seen downtime with Photon. It's almost always user error. Go advertise SH somewhere else, it's so damn annoying seeing "OMG use SH cuz Photon it teh sucks!!!" I realize you just want people to sign up with your banner, but damn.

I was running 3 SG bots which should be easily doable on a WARP 3 plan.

Second, I couldn't access it as in my password wouldn't work, and the reset function doesn't work via the CP, so their support team was screwing with that, until I finally told them to just reset the password and give it to me.

Three, he said the following to me:

". . . Your intensive Java application is heavy on the CPU and RAM which resorts in a performance issues with other users on the node. . . ."

Which was along with the, you've violated our AUP.

I'm not very savvy with this kind of stuff, but I thought the purpose of Xen was that the resources are dedicated to you and aren't touched by others. So how was what's going on in your vps affecting others? Unless it was using the burst ram all the time? But warp 3 should be able to run 3-4 SG bots.

Did you have it set for 500m for each bot? Assuming you had 3 clients open.

I actually had it set to 272 for each, and yes, I had 3 clients open. I had plenty of memory to spare.

I'm pretty sure he just started to BS things because he didn't want to approve the refund, even though I had every right to request one.

Like I said, he first said they don't offer refunds for RS botting. Then I said it wasn't for RS botting, he replied with, they don't allow Java extensive applications. After I told him I wasn't running anything the past few days. He tells me I broke the AUP.

I haven't a clue. Like I said, maybe they just had a bone to pick with me for some reason, I don't truly know.

Alright. Yeah 3 sorc bots should run EASILY on W3.

I've actually had the same thing happen to me, and I had to have my password reset as well. This happened about a week or 2 ago. I still have no idea why my password wasn't working, and support never told me.

As I said, I asked them and waiting for a reply. If they don't allow botting at all anymore then SeerHost here I come.

Thing is though I have 7 bots running on a W4 and have had no issues at all.. very odd this is happening to you.

Yeah, that password thing happened several times to me. The first reply back I got was absolutely nothing was wrong. After that, they told me the problem had been fixed. So I'm like, which is it, lol? Then they had to reinstall the OS and give me my passwords that way. Extremely annoying, and the head of PhotonVPS/Profuse Solutions refuses to accept the fact I didn't have access to my VPS the past several days, yet somehow I broke the AUP in that time by running extensive Java applications.

That is extremely shady of them. And their customer support has been really going downhill lately.

The fact that Jimmy said you broke the AUP but you yourself couldn't even access your VPS is very shady. On top of the fact they won't refund anymore for any bots.

I can pic the support tickets, but there was literally like 30 of them because it kept going back and forth. Either way, please tell me what the reply to your ticket is, because:

1.) It's against their rules and everyone technically violated their AUP, not just me

2.) It's not against rules, he's completely BSing me, and is simply using it as a reason not to refund (me thinks this one)

Either way, like I said above, I will definitely be moving to a different provider once my month is up with them in another 2 weeks. Very sad to be honest. I heard great things from them and for the first two weeks it was fine, but then the password troubles began, and I could barely access my VPS, not to mention it would constantly be rebooted randomly.

Wow, it looks as if they totally cheated you out of your money.

The last screenshot is totally ridiculous and unprofessional. They reserve the right to change their TOS without notification at any time.. how stupid is that? So basically they can take everyone's money, and then change their TOS the next day stating they no longer support botting and have a perfectly legit reason to not refund you.

I'll post my response to my ticket whenever I get a response. Sorry to hear you're having so many troubles =/

Most companies TOS states the same thing, but it was still kinda messed up.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing what they tell you.

I realize that, but at the same time, how many companies have you seen actually hide behind it/wave it in your face?

Nothing I can do now I guess except spread my story, because I don't want anyone else getting screwed like I did. At the end of the day it's only $75, but to someone who doesn't have a lot or is trying to start up a few bots of their own, it could be a major setback to have something like this happen.

Someone should pm a link to this topic to Persia.

I've been saying the same shit for over a month, stay the fuck away from Photon.

Did anyone heed my warnings? No.

$5 says that when Persia sees this he'll still try to defend Photon.

Edit - cc chargeback. Do it.
