Curiosity and Mars

I'm still disappointed that I missed the actual announcement of the successful landing. I only missed it by a few minutes as well.

Regardless, I'm glad to see that everything went as planned, and I hope that the research goes well.

Truly amazing.
It is mind blowing to realize how far we as humans have reached out past our planet, into the unknown. Even more mind blowing is the fact that in the scheme of things, I believe us making it to mars really wont be a large accomplishment.

What I am wondering though, is how they can receive pictures 100 million miles away, but a good 50% of the time I don't have cell phone service.

Oh i feel you there sir, my signal is always crap, second i enter a restaurant/night club/pub BOOM back to the stone ages, Nasa on the other hand casually sending high quality pictures 100 million miles through space.
