US Supreme Court Cases

I need to write a paper about one... Anyone know of any interesting ones? One that the judges were split with the decision is nice...

I have a lot of papers in my notebook from my government class when i was a senior, i'll look through and see if i have anything worth your time in there. A lot of the cases were ridiculous.

 

Ahh, US History & Government I hated that class here are two really important ones:

Plessy Vs. Furgeson

Both of those are very one sided... The first one may work but the second basically can not.

 

What about Marbury V Madison?

We talked about that in class so no.

Mom suggested that. Might do it.

 

I would second Roe v. Wade especially as I remember some recent controversy about it...

 

^Its also very easy since it is so controversial and it was such a huge deal. Tons of info for my silly 6 page paper.... >_>. The damned teacher said we can not have anymore than 7 pages. I was mad. lol

 

Gideon Vs. Wainwright.

Gave right to council to all individuals nation-wide

Mapp Vs. Ohio

Set standard for illegally obtained evidence.

Miranda Vs. Arizona,

Raped a girl, but got off because he wasnt aware of rights, now known as Miranda Rights

 

Dred Scott vs. Sanford would be really cool, you could talk about how that contributed the civil war.

Miranda v Arizona : Miranda rights
Gideon v Wainwright : 6th amendment rights
Roper v Simmons : Juveniles can't get the Death Penalty
Roe v Wade : Abortion can't be denied during the first three months after conception
Plessy v Ferguson : Separation of public facilities based on race is constitutional.
Brown vs Board of Education : Seperation of public facilities based on race is unconstitutional (voided Plessy v Ferguson ruling).


These are just some easy major ones.
