Basic Moves in Soccer

Hey everyone. Armadyl here writing my first guide on some basic moves in soccer. These are some very simples moves you can do to keep control of the ball / try to pass somebody. They don't require alot of skill, so it shouldn't take too long to master them.

The moves I'm teaching are Scissors, Maridonna and Nutmeg.

First off, though, you need some basic gear. You can't play soccer without them!

1. Cleats


2. Shin Pads


3. Soccer Ball


Move 1: Scissors
This move is to help you get around somebody. You confuse them by which way you're going and go the opposite way.

How to do this move
Step 1: Decide what foot you want to kick with (in this situation I will use my right foot).

Step 2: With the foot you are not using, swing around the front of the ball. If you are using your right foot, swing your left foot counterclockwise around the ball. If you are using your left foot, swing your right foot clockwise around the ball.

Step 3: Using your kicking foot (in this case right), use the outside of your foot to kick diagonally away from the defender. Sprint to the ball, so the defender can't get it.

Move 2: Maridonna
You can use this move to get around someone. You put your back to them and turn.

How to do this move
Step 1: Decide which foot you are using. I will use my right foot here.

Step 2: When you see a defender, run at them with the ball. Stop the ball with the tip of your right foot.

Step 3: Turn your back to the defender, so they can't see what you're doing with the ball.

Step 4: Swivel counterclockwise on the defender, so that you're facing forward again. During this whole time use the bottom of your left cleat to roll the ball with you. The defender will think you left the ball back, but you have it with you.

Move 3: Nutmeg
In this move, you trick the defender into opening his or her legs so you can kick the ball between them, and then get it back again.

How to do this move

Step 1: Run towards the person defending you.

Step 2: Lightly tap the ball either to your left or right (it doesn't matter which)

Step 3: As the defender is shuffling towards the ball, quickly tap it again between their legs.

Step 4: Run around the defender and keep going with the ball.

Using these steps, I hope that I taught you a few basic moves to get around someone in soccer. I have a game today so let's see how they work out

Nice guide, i use scissors when im playing soccer with my friends.

 

This is a pretty good guide but if its a basic's guide I'm pretty sure the first time I tried to learn soccer I didn't try all the fancy stuff. Still it was a good guide so I'll give you 9/10. Good graphics and colors.

 

Not many pictures, formats a bit numb. 5/10.

Err.. There could be more pictures 4/10. I always do scissors. I am the best on my team at doing scissors.

 

More pictures could be a use to.

I Give it a 9.5/10. very good guide, shows and decribes how to do the moves mentioned, but you could add more pics / make the pics better.


P.S: The "Sissors" move, i use it, but in newfoundland we call it the "rooney" lol. i love dekeing out the goalie with the sissors, just in that case, move the leg you ARE going to use and swiftley move it around in the way you decribed, but do the same with the foot your not going to use but stop it at the top / front of the ball and use the foot you are going to use and quickley pass it on the back of the leg, then kick left and pop it in. i hope that helped
