Paypal dispute
Hi. Yesterday I sold runescape gold on here and I appear to have been scammed. The buyer has opened disputes with paypal. I took screenshots of the trades that I had given them their gold. Is it a bad idea to upload this as my proof? Is there anything I can do to get the money back or am I screwed? The buyer has already been banned on here.
edit:
Without thinking I uplaoded the proof of trade to paypal, but that was obviously a bad idea since RWT is not allowed, right? Will I be in trouble with paypal now because of this? Can't seem to edit the dispute.

Re: Paypal dispute
RWT is against the jagex/runescape TOS, not paypal I'm pretty sure. You can still dispute it if you didn't get paid/got charged back for selling virtual goods.

Re: Paypal dispute
Paypal does not support virtual trades so you will lose the case once they find out its a virtual trade.
There is no buyer protection in virtual trades man, sorry for your future loss. Paypal is a corrupt system.

Re: Paypal dispute
Thanks for the replies. I can accept I got scammed, lesson learned. Am I safe from getting banned on paypal though? I'm really worried I may get banned on paypal for doing RWT. Are you guys sure they will just deny my evidence and charge the money back to the scammer?

Paypal could care less.
And yes, they know nothing about Runescape. I suggest you email jagex saying your email and RS account was compromised.

Oh, okay. Good then.
What do you mean by emailing jagex? In case the scammer reports me or something?

Re: Paypal dispute
Same thing happened to me before, except I was the person buying the gold and they didn't give it, and I called paypal and they helped me out with it. I'd say try calling and see what they could help you with.

Re: Paypal dispute
It wouldn't hurt to give them a call and explain, it happened to me years and years ago and they helped me over the phone what to write in my dispute reply.

Re: Paypal dispute
If the person who charged you back charged it as "Unauthorized", all you have to do is call PayPal, and tell them that you are 100% sure the person is trying to scam. Tell them to run the IP's from when the payment was sent, and when the account was created. 99% of the time, you win. Also remember never to mention it was for virtual goods, as you will most likely be screwed if you do.
If it was charged back as "Not Item Received/Described", call PayPal, and tell them it was for Virtual goods. In the Buyer's Protection contract for Not Item Received/Described, it does not cover virtual goods for the buyer when there is a charge back. Tell PayPal this, and you will get the money back.
Just remember to be brute with PayPal on the phone. You can be as mean as you want, but they have to be nice to you, so take advantage of that.

I'll take that advice if this ever happens again. It was an "Unauthorized claim". I already uploaded files of our trade on paypal though, I did this when I was very upset and not thinking straight. I can't remove the files from the claim it seems. I know I won't get my money back this time but thanks for your help anyway. I just hope my paypal account will be okay, I don't want to be banned for this.

Your PayPal account should be fine. One charge back won't limit it.
