Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
I'd say just rotate through the free champions. They change so you'll eventually find a champion you like. As for figuring out how to play, once you find one you semi-like, google "LeagueCraft", "Mobafire", or "Solomid", which are all sites that have guides on how to play these champions. Get this champion and main him for a while until you actually have a good knowledge of the game. Also, don't buy runes until you get to level 30. Once you get there, you'll thank me for that, and don't play ranked until you have enough game knowledge to where you know how to play every type of character: Mid, Solo Top, Bot, Support, Carry, Jungle, Etc. Good Luck.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Ad Carry: Try Ashe. She's cheap and you can focus on autoattacking. Remember to always get the last hits on as many minions as possible but do not constantly autoattack (which pushes the lane). Look up guides to help you learn to play her and other characters similar to her.
Mid: I might try fiddlesticks. Again, remember the "last hits" rule. Again, look up a build.
Jungle: Once you decide you would like to learn jungling try Olaf. Can't really help you in a short paragraph as far as that goes.
Top: Try Jax or Singed. They're both good champs that have high sustain. And the last hitting rule still applies.
Support: When you feel ready to learn support, try to play Janna or Soraka. Here you do not get minions. You're trying to keep your AD Carry alive so that he or she can get as many last hits as possible.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Depends if you are planning on buying RP for your first champion. And it depends on your playstyle.
AD Carry / AP Carry / Tank / Support
A good all around AD Carry to start with would be Ashe. Ap Ryze. Amumu for Tank or Singed.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Garen has to be one of the best beginner champions. He has a very basic skill set that doesn't take much effort to master.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Ashe was the first character I bought, cause she was cheap and helped me understand the controls of the game, and generally how to play the game. I'd suggest maybe trying one of each type of character- maybe buy ashe, then try out a free tank or something.
See what you like (I got hooked on alistar, support/tank)

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Yes, ashe is my favorite AD carry and is very, very easy to get a hold of the game with.
Just remember those last hits on minions

Darius.. Easest champion to play with. Pretty expensive, but you can farm these points.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Darius, Fiora, etc. are noobstompers. OP until the enemy team knows how to play. Then they're underpowered.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Jax or Teemo for me.
Teemo can handle mid fairly well, Jax can handle top solo.
Jax has the ability to leap, and stun the enemy. He can deal a great deal of damage with the right build.
Teemo focus on Attack Damage and Attack speed, with a bit of Ability Power.

Re: Best Champion for a Beginner?
Seriously don't start playing whit vayne, I main her in 2300 ELO if you are new stick whit safe carry's like: Ashe, tristana, corki.
Vayne is an high skill Ad carry you need to reposition yourself every 2 seconds in teamfights 1 wrong move and your dead since she extremly squishy
