I think I'm going to work on a transformation thread, kind of like what you have...but only after I've made some progress...lol. I heard it keeps you motivated (I remember being on other health/bodybuilding sites).

I'm not aiming for a jacked 6 pack, just toned abs rather than a skinny/flat stomach.
If more people made good progress threads here it would help kickstart a fitness craze. I say go for it!

Will do...going to start posting once I've made some progress.

What kind of songs are in your workout play list? I've been using the same one...and frankly, I'm getting tired of it. Here's some of the songs I've been using:
http://gyazo.com/45d02080d7df23baf8f...png?1339538294

Since that link didn't come up...it's basically just songs by Akon/Tyga/Pitbull/Lil Wayne/Ludacris/Kanye West/Eminem/Ying Yang Twins (about ~2.6 hours worth).
Love songs like Rack City to work out to, hoping you have some suggestions.

Lol, its mostly about personal preference when it comes to workout music. Sadly my gym sucks and they play sad indian music there (and have VERY limited equipment & facilities) . I've gotten used to working out without caring about the music but if i had a choice, i'd listen to trance. They're easy to synchronize with your workout because of how the beat repeats and give that euphoric feeling when the drop finally kicks in (which means u could time your sets according to the beat or drop)

Looking good man! Keep it up, i've been hitting the gym hard and dieting really good these past few months and the gains are great for myself. I've been working out for about a year and a half? or less gained 25+ lbs of muscle unfortunately my pictures don't make the progress look like anything(at least i think they don't) at all but their really is, i will start taking more better pics. Heres an 8 month progress of chest. I rep around 175 8 Times easily haven't maxed yet last max a few months ago was 205 lbs i should be hitting 225+ now

No pics of legs I'm guessing you need to do some squats brah Aside from that looking good, I'd hit shoulders a bit more though. I'm jelous your cut for summer, I dislocated my shoulder benching two months ago and it's ruined this years beach body as far as bf % goes because I didn't want to cut without being able to lift.

Wow man, thats some great progress! I myself weigh 120 pounds and my metabolism kills me! I could eat McDonald's for a week and still be the same. I bought a 5lb bag of Mutant Mass and the results are slowly coming in

Main reason i started/got interested in lifting was when i was towards the end of my fourth semester in college. Realized i was getting extremely weak and my heart rate would randomly jump up to 110-120s resting mostly due to lack of physical activity. I used to be the kind of guy who had the endurance to play 3-4 hours of football daily. However at that point of time i had no idea about how to get a good body, how the body added muscle. Heck, i didn't even care about aesthetics etc. I liked being a skinnyphag. Then i started seeing transformations of various skinny guys like Josef Rakich, Aggresive and other random people from BB.com's post your pictures subforum. This got me inspired and also made me aware of how skinny i actually was. My brother used to browse 4chan and used to keep updating me with lifting facts from /fit/, at that point we both were interested, but couldn't start because of forthcoming exams. This went on for a few months. But inbetween, he introduced me to Zyzz and his transformation and view on aesthetics. This completely changed my mindset and i decided that i HAD to start sooner rather than later. I started lifting at the beginning of my 5th semester. However, i had a month of fasting in between (Ramadan) and a month of exams in between where i couldn't train or follow a diet. But with 8 months of lifting i've changed a lot from where i was & i've enough knowledge now on getting to my current goal of 180 pounds, shredded.

My mindset was completely focused on bodybuilding and creating that aesthetic physique. If the gym's closed for some reason, i end up doing 300+ pushups at home, along with 100+ pullups otherwise i just don't feel right.

The main thing you've to focus on while u start off is of course, your diet. Without a solid diet, it isn't possible for you to get anywhere in terms of aesthetics. And the second thing is trial and error. Find out your strongest and weakest spots and learn to train in such a way that your weak spots don't lag behind too much with the rest of the body. For example, some people just train biceps and arms since its their strong spot, but it leads to their physique looking narrow as your lats get overshadowed by the biceps. If you have love handles or fat on your obliques, this'd look completely stupid when you dont have a shirt on.

So remember, heavy intensity full body training (including legs) with sets consisting of 8-6-5 pyramid sets, a proper diet with very little sugar (Sugar's your biggest enemy in terms of fat storage) and mainly your mindset should be on top if you want to see results.
Thank you very much for the well written post & the good tips

If you are able to go into specifics about your diet, what exactly you eat throughout the day, and any good sources for information regarding this?

I'd also like to know if there are any sites or books that you've used to gain knowledge about body building, and mainly just working out in general. I am not necessarily looking to sculpt myself to look like Zyzz, but I just want to get back in shape. I have always had a fairly athletic build my entire life, and it was always easy to keep it up with absolutely NO knowledge of working out whatsoever. I just played sports and went to the gym regularly (with no idea what I was doing) and my body stayed fit and healthy. I once felt proud to take my shirt off and took satisfaction in knowing that I looked sexy.

However, after years of pounding substances into my body and drinking heavily, it is depressing to look at myself in the mirror now as it is just another reminder of another thing I have lost and another price I have paid to be hooked on drugs. Along with many other things in my life, my physique has faded away and my body just now looks soft and boyish, pale, unshapely, and unhealthy. I miss the toned muscles and the tanned skin, and the things that actually made me proud to take my shirt off even as recent as just a year and a half ago. The destruction done to your body when you are on heroin night and day is incredible and it happens so fast, and it just grinds my self-esteem down even further and leads me back into the cycle of depression and wanting to hole myself up in a dark room and use drugs for days.

I don't even know why I am writing this right now, it was not my intention to write any of this when I replied to this post but I guess it is just sort of flowing out of me. This is probably better off in PS.. just seeing a thread like this is quite inspiring to me and it helps me feel inspired, albeit only for a few moments, that maybe I can pull the motivation I need out of somewhere and use it to climb out of this dark hole in my head and actually gain back some of the things I have lost. The health of my mind & body being my first priority.

Please PM me if you can give me any information and tips about where/how to get started, how to stay motivated, and where I can begin the process. Thanks for reading and I apologize for the random sob story.

This is literally the exact situation I'm in now. I'm 5'11'', I weigh around 145 lbs, and I play lacrosse, so I have a very high metabolism. I eat decently, and work out 3-4 times a week (at a gym). I'd really like to talk to you more and get your plan. I basically want to be looking like that when I'm through.

For all the above posts, here you go:

Workout routine, 3 day split, repeat twice a week with a day's rest in between:

Day 1 : Shoulders/Bis

Day 2 : Chest/Back

Day 3 : Legs/Tris

During these 3 days, you use the first muscle as a primary muscle, i.e, you absolutely pound them. Then you do the second muscle as a secondary, with fewer sets and not as much intensity.

Then you have an off day and repeat the same split after interchanging the primary and secondary muscle groups, i.e, now you do Bis as primary and shoulders as secondary on Day 1 and so on.

For your strongest muscle groups, i'd recommend GVT or German Volume training. It's a method in which you do just 2 exercises for the muscle but do 10 sets. I've been doing it for the chest, and it works really well

Diet:

Bulking on 3200 a day,

Weight gainer shake, 1250 cals powder from Muscletech's mass gainer + 1 litre milk (700 cals) = 1950 cals

Chicken breast, thrice a day, about 600 cals

Other than this, i have about 2 meals of rice n chicken/fish, about 300-400 cals each.

I'm bulking, so this works perfect, (Lesser than 80g fat and more than 200g protein)

I use multivitamins to get my micronutrients and of course a lil bit of veggies and fruits.

Thank you SO much. Any recommendations on types of protein powders, vitamins etc.? I've used whey protein in the past, but what would you recommend? And if you wouldn't mind me asking, how old are you?

If you're skinny trying to bulk, Mass gainer like ON Serious Mass or Muscletech's 1250 cal weight gainer. If you just want Protein, ON Gold standard, BSN syntha 6 or Dymatize's iso-100. I'm 20.

I'm 5'11'' and weigh around 140. And I definitely want to bulk. I'm looking to weigh around 165.

Do you think its worth it going to your local gym and signing up and getting help from the trainers there or should you go there all by yourself because I do not even know how to perform all the the differerent lifts and just basically everything also how did you manage to cook so much food would you just go out yourself and buy everything and cook?

Do you think going to the gym 3x a week for 1 hour doing basic stuff like squats benchpress leg pulls etc would be good enough or do i need to do more advanced things also how do you manage to eat the same food every single day over and over again ?

Do you focus on your abs much? It seems your lacking lower abs. Is it because you are bulking?

Are you going to hammer your Body Fat and workout your lower abs a bit more?

Get your abs a little bigger I suggest.

Nice transformation though! I love the gym and workout like crazy but a month ago, I fucked up my leg and now I haven't been able to go for the time being. When the doctor gives me the heads up, I'll quickly hit it like old times.
