Hi guys, I'm new to this section, what language is really used to code on a Mac?
I'm clueless. Thanks.

Objective C is the standard language. There are lots of tutorials available, I wouldn't know what to recommend though.

Sarune you got your answer through "The Fat Controller". However if you have started for Mac, then its fine, but if still you are thinking for it then I would recommend that its better to choose any other platform, because this one is really a big one and highly technical and most probably mathematical also.

PS: I hate Maths.

Since you're a beginner I'd actually start with Python. Python applications are cross-platform which means that anything you make can be used on Mac, Windows, Linux, etc. Objective C is complicated and would most likely discourage you from pursuing any other type of programming, so you should try learning it after you've mastered at least 1 language. If you don't learn Python, learn Java, though Java can get fairly complex as well and can be daunting for beginners.

I learned Java from the get go and that's what you will learn in college if you go that route so I'd say it would be a good first language...

Yes.

However, as others have said it is quite a difficult one for you to begin programming with.

C/C++.

XCode is some time the only reason to get a mac.

Trust me on this....

c/c++ are very useful languages for many things such as gaming (if you are interested in that type of thing) and it is a nice introduction to coding. it also makes things like java much easier to learn if you are fluent in c++.

inb4 people telling him to learn c++ - c++ is a bitch on macs because osx barely supports it.
Try Java, it is universal, and you can do pretty much whatever you want with it.

Edit: shit i misread the question, most applications that use the OSX GUI are coded in Objective C.
