Why can't they close threads move them archive them? Gohan Takes care of scam reports.

Say someone is scammed by an imposter. Gohan can't close it? It sits there and looks terrible. Why not let him close it.

I'm asking for more power to sectional mod's Closing threads Moving threads Ect.

It wouldn't hurt. On top of that Market mod takes care of market But If its has a lot of posts and market mods offline then why can't another sectional help out? There all in it for the same reason to help the community.

P.s I mean this in scam reports.

    Discuss.

They can, within their own section (hence sectional). As for the rest of your post, I have no idea what you're saying, sorry.

Firstly, Scam reports are optional for sectional moderators, they do not have to help out, that is the role of global Moderators, hence why we cannot permanently ban the scammers/rule breakers.

Sectionals can ask for Permissions here, but its not really needed, an unclosed scam report is good because when a global checks the thread, he can then check if the Tempbanned-by-Sectional Member is then banned correctly, closing the report finally, so he/shee can close the thread.

Sectionals can also not be trusted with scam reports.

Pretty Blunt view you have there, I am pretty sure any sectional moderator currently staff here could analyse and bring a verdict upon any scam report.

Sectionals are sectionals because they are new. Once they are experienced they are promoted to global (as long as there is a spot for them). Allowing inexperienced people to do scam reports is not wise. There is also a high rate of new sectional moderator scamming and corruption at times.

EDIT: Sorry I did not explain that in my first post.

Does that mean every single moderator will be promoted to global? Pretty sure they wont be and even if they're what is a name color change and a rank going to change? They're still the same person they were before the promotion and the only things they learned are lessons that probably can be taught within a month or so.

I just thought classing 'All Sectionals' as not trusted to do them was a little off, I agree with you that a factor must be inexperience, but the staff at this time I would say are all capable of making a rational decision based on evidence, despite if they have the permissions or not.

    EDIT
I agree with this, Branding all sectionals as inexperienced is quite a fallacy, Hahanerd has been staff for some time now, im sure hes very capable of deciding where or not a Scam report is convicting or not.

Thanks karl I see what your saying in your above post. But to close threads Ect. If the person is temp banned you can leave it , if it's imposter not enough proof let sectionals archive it.

I'm going to be quite honest with you and tell you that the report a scammer section is not in a competition for a beauty contest. Moderators don't need to archive threads especially regarding really important situations. People will just get mad and start talking smack to the sectionals and ask them to leave it to the globals, which I find funny but yet understandable.

There is experience involved and trust involved. Although many sectionals are more than capable of doing scam reports, the line has to be drawn somewhere. Grey areas cause problems. In this case, it can be avoided pretty easily as Sythe is not that large, but in a bigger situation it would cause problems. I'm mainly just pointing out why all sectionals can not do scam reports. I know that many are allowed to do so after they seem like they can.

A promotion from sectional -> global is not rewarding unless there are substantial powers gained.

They're not science lab test rats, they're human beings that are very capable of common sense. I also don't see what trust would be involved in doing a scam report? Can you explain that part a bit better?

Corruption. Saying that a report is legitimate when it is not or the other way around. The sectional needs to be trusted more for the scam reports than for normal moderating.

The expected jobs that each performs are very distinct which I would say is the main difference between them.

Sectional Moderators WILL be Promoted to Global Moderators when the upper staff feel (if ever) they are fit for the position and there is a vacancy. Sectionals are not given the power to permanently ban members because they are not in the position to be making bigger decisions like this, and the same is with Scam Reports - Globals still need to review the decisions made and approve them before they're closed/archived.

When we talk of Maturity in this context we're not referring to their behavior and how they hold themselves around the forums, we're talking about their positions and their ability in decision making.

Something that has been observed quite a bit recently with our current sectionals is their inability to remain unbiased and indifferent towards specific situations - they are making their decisions upon character and how they know of the person rather than putting their feelings aside and making reasonable and backed-up conclusions.

TL;DR - Sectionals struggle to remain neutral. Character reference should only be considered once the facts are considered - friends or foes.

This. I see this as a big issue and when a sectional has gained enough experience and has matured and learned to be unbiased and rational then they can be considered for global. The only global that doesn't fit this description is Firez. He's a workhorse and is very rational/ an excellent mod but he seems to be a bit biased based on the aspect of the users he moderates.
