Awe snap. Deacon is being cast as the acting second lieutenant in charge of toilet scrubbing.

(An acting second lieutenant is the lowest military rank technically assignable in most armed forces, for those who didn't get the reference.)

The nature of the debate doesn't really interest me, but I just wanted to point out that Einstein was Jewish.

So if you said unicorns are real, that must mean there real.

First off a theory isn't fully proven or accepted. If it was in that case it would make it a fact. Normally theories have some kind of test or studies to back them up.

    —Albert Einstein[84]

He didn't actually believe in the Jewish religion...

"The Einsteins were non-observant Jews. Their son attended a Catholic elementary school from the age of five until ten."

I believe we are here for a purpose and everything happens for a reason I do not believe that we just happened to get this far on earth and I believe there will be a 2nd coming a judgement day, although I do not believe in heaven or hell. But for humans to be recarnated

    He was a non-observant Jew.

The fact that he didn't observe the religion doesn't take away from his Jewish identity and love of Judaism.
The majority of Jews today are non-observant and still believe in the Jewish religion, though he may have not.

"The pursuit of knowledge for its own sake, an almost fanatical love of justice, and the desire for personal independence—these are features of the Jewish tradition which make me thank my lucky stars that I belong to it."
    -Einstein

What he identifies are here are some of the main forces in Judaism.

Einstein didn't believe in God. His embracing of the Jewish TRADITION was just as an American embraces American tradition.

I'm not saying I don't believe in God because I do but it is hard to believe in something that you have never seen.

The essence of Judaism is not in God. As well, an American who embraces American tradition is an American.

Preference for teleological explanations over causal science is the hallmark of primitive man. In a binding choice between medieval mysticism and rationalist epistemology, I am confident you would choose the latter, for I dare say you enjoy: electricity, medicine, plentiful food, the Internet, free trade, clean water, and a thousand other things brought about only by the men working under the assumption of the validity of this epistemology.

To put it frankly: all the teleological explanation of the universe has ever invoked is war and famine.

My thoughts on "God" and religions.

This is something I like. I believe there is a god, however. I also am a christian, and agree that our religion is flawed. When it talks about God creating the Earth in Seven Days, Days are a manmade calculation of time. How do we know God uses manmade things? Also, our bible was written by humans. The Bible didn't fall through the sky. And actually, the man who compiled our modern bible, Emperor Constantine, was apparently not a catholic, even though he developed the Roman Catholic Church and made it a popular religion. When the bible was translated, the translator made an error, and gave Moses horns.

    Code:
    Then, the revengeful God.
When a person harms you, or your close ones, you can think "God will punish him later on" that may give hope to you on hard times.

So, God gives life a MEANING of some sort. Even if it's worshipping something that doesn't exist, it is a meaning.

Also, not all religions have a revengeful God. The earliest forms of Christianity, do not have 'Satan', Satan developed before the Crusades, I think I remember reading. Also, a lot of Native Americans (Indians), do not have a revengeful God. They believe that you need to get to the path at the end, and if you do bad things, you lose the way, and need to get back on.

This is just my take, and what I know.

    You cannot be serious.

He stated that stars are not formed through cosmic evolution, because 'no-one has ever seen one form'.

He then goes on to apply the same argument to abiogenesis. 'We've never seen life originate from non-living matter. Can't have happened.'

And then the kicker. 'Nobody has ever seen a dog produce a non-dog'

That's six minutes of my life I won't be getting back.
