Hm, interesting design, but firstly, the "grid" type pattern in the background kind of ruins the reality of it, since the flow and curvaceous nature of both fire and water are constricted in the grid. The blending of the two is also decent, though it could be improved, and the fire could have a more natural colour to it - more warm orange and yellow colours

Both are meant to reprisent the element, not necessarily be a realistic image of each.
I agree about the colours, I'll change that.

I think it may need a bit more sharpening and contrast. I can't stand large pieces without contrast or a nice element of brightness. I suggest to take all of the CC from so far and listening to it.

Version 2 looks like you only liquified it and added more contrast. But, definitely better.

Some nice effects and blending is used, but it doesn't resemble fire and water that much, to me anyway.
