Default Hunter Guide ~ 1 - 99

Before you read the Guide:
To be able to get 99 isn’t a stroll in the park, it requires determination and time. Also, all items should be bought at the Grand Exchange, if not, then at Yanille Hunter Store. Do not bait or smoke traps.

The Guide:
Levels 1-10, Crimson Swifts

Items:
Bird Snares (always bring more than you need)

Method
Make your way to Fedlip Hills by either teleporting to Castle Wars and walking, or using Fairy Rings AKS. Once there, walk towards the South-East corner. DO NOT GO INTO OO’GLOG. One you see the Crimson Swifts, set up your trap. Your traps will fail almost 80% of the time and it will seem like ages before level 2, let alone 9 comes. But the whole skill of Hunter requires PATIENCE. Drop all loot you get.

Levels 10-19, Copper Longtails

Items
Bird Snare (always bring more than you need)

Wood Camo Top (Optional, though I’d advise it) Wearing Wood Camo gear gives a higher catch rate

Wood Camo Bottom (Optional, though I’d advise it) Wearing Wood Camo gear gives a higher catch rate

Method
Make your way just west of the Falconer (south of Picatoris Fishing Colony), and there you will spend some time getting 19 Hunter. The best way to get there is Fairy Rings AKQ, then go south. One you see the Copper Longtails, set up your trap and be patient to get level 19. Again, it will seem like eternity because the Copper Longtails are harder to catch, but level 19 will come. Drop all loot.

Level 19-29, Tropical Wagtails
Items
Bird Snare (at level 20 you can set 2 traps, so bring 4 Bird snares)

Jungle Camo Top (Optional, though I’d advise it)

Jungle Camo Bottom (Optional, though I’d advise it)

Method
Make your way again to Fedlip Hills by either teleporting to Castle Wars and walking, or using Fairy Rings AKS and walking South-West. Once you see the Tropical Wagtails, set up your Bird Snares and continue. At level 20, you can set up 2 traps, this will make the process to level 29 a tiny bit faster. This will be the last bird you hunt, so you can shed a tear if you want. Drop all Loot.

Level 29-47, Swamp Lizards
Items
Rope (about 5 if you will drop loot)(2 at level 29, 3 at level 40 if you keep loot)

Small Fishing Net (about 5 if you will drop loot)(2 at level 29, 3 at level 40 if you keep loot)

Method
Now Swamp Lizards are in quite a tricky place to get to, but the best way to get there is Fairy Rings ALQ and travelling South-West. Once you do see the Swamp Lizards, set up your traps on the young trees nearby (just click on the Young Trees). Then wait until a Swamp Lizard is caught or if the trap just goes off. Once you get an inventory of Swamp Lizards, you can bank them at Canifis Bank and sell them later (886gp a Lizard), or just drop them. If you are going to sell them, you must be patient as not many people buy Swamp Lizards, and it slows down your quest for 99 Hunter. At 40 Hunter, you can set 3 traps.

Level 47-59, Orange Salamanders
Items
Rope (5 is sufficient)

Small Fishing Net (5 is sufficient)

150gp (for Carpet ride)

Shantay Pass

Waterskin (4) (about 5 is good)

Desert Robes

Method
To get here quickly, take a magic carpet ride from just in front of Shantay Pass to Uzer. From there, walk South-West until you see Orange Salamanders. Set your traps. When your waterskins run out, run back to the magic carpet, go back to Shantay and either refill your Waterskins, or use new ones. Then repeat process to get back to Hunter spot. Drop all Loot.

Level 59-70, Red Salamanders
Items
Rope (about 5)

Small Fishing Net (about 5)

Any Camo Gear (must be full gear)

Method
To get to the Hunter spot quickly, teleport to Castle Wars and I suggest running North until you see the ZMI altar entrance surrounded with lava. There you should see many Red Salamanders. Use the most Westerly young trees as they are closer to eachother than the Easterly trees. At level 60, you can set 4 traps which will speed up your process greatly. Drop all loots.

Level 70-99, Red Chinchompas
Items
Box Traps (I always bring 10)

Spined Larupia Hat, Top and Legs (a definate MUST)

Method
We travel beck to Fedlip Hills, so either using Fairy Rings AKS and walking south or teleporting to Castle Wars and walking, will get you there. If you want 99 Hunter in one go, you will be here for a very long time. Set up your traps, and reset them when needed. KEEP LOOT!!! They are worth up to 700gp each and stack up, so 99 Hunter will make you gain about 30M! Red Chinchompas can get very annoying, but as I said, determination and time is needed. At level 80 you can set 5 traps which is a HUGE pro!

At 99, why not talk to the Hunter Expert just West to the place where the Red Chinchompas are? Don’t forget 99K to bring, because I think he might sell you something that you can’t usually buy.
