Guide to making a F2p Ranged Pure
This is a guide that shall hopefully help beginers to build a Ranged puure that will work for them.
Okay, so first off, head to the Stronghold of Security, complete all the levels, get the reward of the 10k and Boots - Your choice of what ones you get. Secondly, head to the Stronghold of Safety, spend the exp lamps both of Ranged. Then get your reward from the Chest, don't wear the Safety Gaunlets, as vambraces are better Ranged bonus. You should now have around 20k.
Head to the Grand Exchange and buy the following equipment:
• Leather Cowl
• Leather Body
• Leather Chaps
• Leather Vambraces
• Coif
• Green D'hide Chaps
• Green D'hide Vambraces
• About 1k+ Bronze Arrows
• Oak Shortbow
• Willow Shortbow
• Maple Shortbow
• Any Teamcape - I use Team-36 cape
• Amulate of Accuracy
• Any amount of any food - Just to use up the remaining cash.
[1 - 20]
First off, go to Lumbridge and head to the Chicken Coop, kill the Chickens with your bow until your 20 Ranged, picking up all of the Feathers and your Arrows. Once done, head to the Grand Exchange, sell your Feathers and then buy more Arrows. (Bronze or Iron - I use Bronze, because they are cheaper and hit basically the same)
[20 - 30]
Now head to the Level 12 Minotaurs, on the first floor of the Stronghold of Security. Go to the safe-spot in the coner of the room and fire away. This shouldn't take too long at all, pick up your arrows, and they shall last you longer, also pick up the Iron Arrows that they drop. This way you can either use them or sell them to buy more Bronze Arrows.
[30 - 40]
Now your getting to be a decent Ranged pure, head to the pub at Barbarian Village. Use the tables and chairs as safe-spots whilst you kill the Barbarians. This shouldn't take too long at all, once again pick up your arrows, they do not really give great drops, but the exp you gain from them is definatly worth it. By the time your 40 Ranged, you should be 27 Combat and with about 29 Hitpoints. If you wish to go pk'ing at this stage, here's what you should take:
• Coif
• Leather Body
• Green D'hide Chaps
• Green D'hide Vambraces
• Maple Shortbow
• 50 - 100 Adamant Arrows
• Fighting/Colourful Boots
• Amulate of Accuracy
• Full Inventory of Lobsters
It's not really all that hard to pk on a F2P Ranger, Just fire your arrows at another player, eat when you need to (BUT DO NOT SAFE!) and do this until your oponent is dead. You will not be all that great at this level, and not many players will actually be in pvp that are in your level range. If they are, they are most probably Rangers, just like yourself.
I would not advise pk'ing at this stage though, it will not really pay off, the drops are not all that great with people this level.
[40 - 60]
Back to training; you may want to stay with Barbarians, which is fine because they are good exp. You could also switch to Hill Giants for good drops and ok xp. Use the safespots, otherwise you will easilly die. This is the prime stage of your pure, you can either carry on and be amazing, or stay with an average range level, and it will not be that fun.
[60+]
Once your at this level, you can either carry on with Hillies, or change to Lesser Demons. These give good drops, so they can pay off, their Hitpoints are also quite high, so they are quite effective for training. BE CAREFUL Lesser Demons ARE Agressive (They Attack you without you attacking them first) So you will definatly have to find a safespot. If you go to the Karamja Dungeon, you can use the stalagmites as safespots. This is when your Range pure is really coming into character, this pure will be very effective.
Pking
Okay, so when pk'ing with this pure once it's around 60+ Ranged, it can be very effective. It's amazing vs Mages, because of your Ranged Armour gives a good Magic Defence. Watch out for Melee Pures though, they are your weakness, they easilly can hit you, so make sure you get the hit on them first if you are going to attempt to kill one.
Use the same gear I mentioned earlier and goodluck pk'ing.
If I have missed out anything, or if there is anything you think I should add, please mention it.
