I assume he tried using a pot on the hopper and got Null>Hopper.

it means nothing to be honest, just like a few years back when every once in a while if you put your mouse over a player it would say Null, and would be lvl 1. Cannot be exploited in any way so it really wasnt a "nice" find

It means nothing. Its just a glitch. It can not be exploited.
