How my life has changed, from runescape and quitting
I recently quit runescape, and most games in general.
Honestly, it was a good solid run, the games were fun, and I've honestly learned tonnes of things from playing the game, like proper grammar, typing faster, better social skills, how to set my mind on something, how to find shortcuts in things, how to save up money, and much more. Honestly, I'll never regret the uncountable hours I've spent on that game. But honestly.. Quitting was the best thing I've ever done.
I've personally done a significant amount of drugs in my life, and I've had some pretty bad addictions to them, but honestly.. Games in general were the worst =/ It may sound sad, but it's true.
Ever since I've quit RS, my marks have went up to 90%+'s, I've been out every single day, I don't have to think about how much time I have to spend on this and that in RS, I'm more calm, I'm more fit, I'm much healthier, I've hooked up much more then when I played this game, and I'm now happily dating someone.. Honestly. Quitting was an amazingly good life changer. =/
It was pretty weird not playing, my fingers still typed runescape.com right when I opened Google Chrome, and it's weird not being able to player kill when really baked, but it's good. The honest way I quit was, pked with 10m+ every trip , no banking aloud, drop party, and drop dungoneering items etc. Selling it wouldn't have worked for me personally. Not sure why. Then I gave away my user+pass to a random person, no idea who they are at all =/ .
I deleted all my recovery records on my computer, and threw out old password papers etc.
After I did all that, I just called up friends and said lets blaze, and I've been just out every day enjoying life, not spending hours on the computer.
Just wondering, to the people that have quit, or are quitting, or still play, how has it changed your life?

I've played RS on/off for about 8 or so years, and never got addicted. Yeah I enjoy playing but I always made sure of my priorities.

Eh i'm too busy to play RuneScape, what with working and all that. To be honest with you when I get back in the evening it's either PC or TV, since my friends live over an hour away by train which sucks so I sometimes go on, but rarely as there are better alternatives to wasting my time.

Re: How my life has changed, from runescape and quitting
Good on you .
I think i've been able to balance playing runescape & have a social life. I mean in the 8 years I've played the game, my best account had like 2k total.
But yeah, I think runescape is a really addictive game, the way you compete online to be 'the best', and how you set goals and strive to achieve them.
Runescape's definitely increased the speed of which I type, and certain words seem to be built into my fingers, I remember one time I typed 'buying bandos' into youtube, when I was looking for a pendulum music video.
I'd like to think it's had a positive outcome on my life, and to be realistic with goals and ambitions I have. But as i said, i was able to balance having a social life and playing runescape, and not become too addicted... so that when I came home from college, the first thing on my mind wouldn't be RUNESCAPE but, facebook.

This is exactly my thoughts when it comes to the game. I always tell people this when they say stuff like "z0mg i hate firemaking but i need 99 sooooo bad."
If it something you enjoy and it's not interfering with your life, that's great. But a lot of people need to realize that they are out of control and stop/tone it down.
Nice work OP

Re: How my life has changed, from runescape and quitting
Was basically addicted when I was in middle school, played on and off through high school. Basically quit for a while, then come to find out the girl I've been with for three years loves to play it. Play with her daily, live together, 'hook up' all the time.
Basically all the benefits you states, and still playing Runescape.

Re: How my life has changed, from runescape and quitting
RS has never affected my personal life, and I have probably learned nothing from it, my life is fine without or with it.
