I was wondering if there was a simple way to record audio.

My personal goal is to eventually record audio, save it to a "channel", allow for multiple channels, and play them back simultaneously.

I am posting this in the VB.net section AND the C# section because all .net languages are the same, and if someone can give me a solution in vb.net, i can easily convert it to C#.

Do you mean record audio from a microphone?
If so, you can download a program called "audacity"

It is possible but there is no simple way. Try using Google.

You'd have a better chance using some kind of assembly that someone else made, similarly to all the Mp3 player assemblies out there.
