So yeah, I'm in 8th grade dating a 6th grader, do y'all think that's too far?

Normally i'm all for 2 years difference, but since you seem to be out of Elementary(primary) school, and i assume they are still in it, maybe not based on where you live, i'd say it might be a little far. Whatever makes you happy though, bro.

I think that's normal. Middle school where I live is 6th-8th grade. I really only think it's questionable when someone over 18 is dating someone under or if there is a huge age gap, but 2 years isn't a big deal.

When you get into grade 9 your classmates may think its a bit weird you are dating a girl in grade 7, but two years later when you're in 11th grade and she's in 9th grade it isn't that weird. My parents have a 9 year gap so I could care less lol.

That's....fine, I suppose. I knew someone when I was an 8th grader who was dating a 6th grader but, that was years ago...in the future, you will need a few years apart, I suppose....

A 2 year age difference isn't so bad, but it all depends really. Age difference only really seems to matter when you are very young (your age) for a number of different reasons. The most obvious one would be maturity.. if you are dating a girl 2 years younger than you but her maturity level is in a whole different ballpark than yours, then its just not worth it. If you feel that she is mature, intelligent, and she is hopefully somewhat developed as a woman and not bordering a 12/13 year olds body, then you should be ok.

Once you reach 20+ a few years in between partners in a relationship really doesn't matter too much, because by that point you are already fully developed and most people are alot more mature and can handle the age difference.

Personally I think that 2 years is pushing it. In school I always stuck to a 1 year rule. This being said, a few of my friends have dates girls either 2 years above or bellow and they seemed perfectly happy, although the relationships did not last past 6 months.

To be honest, it should not matter what we say, or what anyone else has to say. If you feel strongly about it, which you clearly do as you said you are dating her, not are thinking about it etc, then stick with it.

In gradeschool (up to 11th grade) I stuck to the (-1) (+2) rule (meaning I'd date girls one year below, two above.) Once you hit 11th grade, it seems like that no longer matters.

Than again, do what you want to and don't let others tell you its not acceptable.

As many have said you want to stay at a -2 maximum rule, now once your like 24 and want to date a 18-19 year old that is still okay by most standards.

Anyway another thing to keep in mind is if you are dating someone -2 of your age you want to make sure mentally she is ahead of her peers, and not let's say not as smart.
