No, metal is me, not hardcore. Snot would be the only band I like that's under the hardcore genre. They also incorporate funk rock too, which makes less pissy sounding.

But ya, hardcore sucks. The sound is played out. I think you mean metalcore when you say hardcore. 90% of metalcore bands are worthless crap, but there are a few good ones such as Despised Icon and Unearth. For the most part though, the genre is one step above nu metal on the shitlist.

Whitechapel isnt hardcore, infact they are about as far away as you can get before you leave the Metal genre.

and Iwrestledabearonce is Progressive Metal, its an insult to call it hardcore. The styles are so diffrent.....

I'm not 100% sure on what criteria you judge music on to see if its classified as hardcore or not, but according to my itunes some of my favourite bands are 'hardcore' including:

Escape The Fate
HORSE The Band
Atreyu

So to anwser the threads question, yes, I do listen to hardcore, I listen to nearly all genres.
