Dante is number 28, though if this wasn't voted on by people in your age group, I could understand how it should have been overlooked from the list entirely.

And this is what's wrong with gaming.

It's this very statement that even put "Soap" in the same league with the characters that built the history of gaming. Not that soap wasn't a compelling character, but what did his character really do for gaming? it's just a voice actor.

Mario is one of the reasons gaming is where it is.
Not everyone plays video games, but even if they dont they will mario more than they will know soap.

I don't really care who built the first blocks of gaming. Does it even matter? Time changes, and there might come a time when all off these old-school characters get kicked off the list, which I'm happily looking forward to.

And just so you know, I'm not one of those CoD suck-ups.

I'm just saying, the poll was about who the greatest video game characters of all-time are, and characters like Soap aren't changing the course of other games like some characters have. You don't think of Soap first when you play Modern Warfare, you think Multi-player. When I ask if you want to play Marvel Vs. Capcom, you might think of Ryu as your favorite character in the game, but he's transcended his own franchise to move on to bigger things, because he's a memorable character than means something to the history of gaming. You could argue that every character in Super Smash Brothers is bigger than anyone in a Call of Duty game, as when you see them, you know almost all of their names. If I saw Soap I would say, "Yeah, that guy from Modern Warfare."

Where is the pong bars! They are the original game characters! And heck they probably took the most beating! Not a fan of mario but link master cheif (not a big halo fan XD) goddam Freeman, cloud, pacman, an solid snake deserve to be up there. Not a god of war fan (Ninja gaiden 2 FTW!) and I wish captin price was higher up on the list (how in the world did soap beat him!!!!!)

I disagree as I think of twothings when it comes to cod: modern warfare series, soap and the first sniper rifle you get in cod 4 XD but then again I like campaign. Of course I think home front will have some better characters (and story and campaign)
