Default Very Easy Math Question Help !

Hi guys,
Just transferred into a new level of math.

I need a hand with this.

Imagine a Right hand triangle.

The Hypotenuse is 26cm
and the top angle is 52'7 degrees.

The opposite and adjacent are unknowns.

How do i find the unknowns and what does it mean by 52'7 degrees?!

Please help

Use the three trigonometric functions to find it. Remember SOH-CAH-TOA.

If the degree is like 52(o)7', it means 52 degrees 7 minutes. It basically means 52 degrees + 7/60 degrees. Since minutes and if you go one step further to get more exact, seconds are parts of 60.

Please excuse the "step 4" part that I tried to do, it's too late to try and figure out why I can't make the Pythagorean theorem work :[

You can simply repeat steps 1-3 again with the missing angle and you'll get your solution.

Now, to answer one of your questions really quick (what is 52°7' mean?) the dash by the 7 is called "minutes". A minute is nothing more than a fraction of a degree. See the image below, and you'll see how you can convert minutes into decimals to be added to the end of your degree. You'll also encounter seconds, and it'll look like 52°7'3". Double dash is called "seconds". The conversion is exactly the same, except you do it once to get to minutes, then again to get to degrees. Then you add it to your degree number 52°
