I have been playing with photoshop for a long time, including several long breaks. I can't seem to just get decent with it, I have followed tutorials and such.

I loved basic "web-design" but I want to move on, and I know to be any good at it I have to be better with photoshop. Any help here?

Firstly, I'd suggest learning how to code proper HTML+CSS layouts, and learn as much as you can about things such as website usability, web design standards, etc. so that you can understand the limits that can be pushed and the boundaries you're in when designing the site in Photoshop. I'd also suggest going onto a bunch of web design blogs, most of them have a "50 amazing website designs showcase" post every now and then, look at those websites, reconstruct them in Photoshop to understand what they've done and how.

IMO. It's all about practise.
Look at tutorials. Keep practacing and keep developing new idea's for design.

It took me 4 months to make some of the work that I use to make, I made alot of money, Now I own a Mac, and never got photoshop back because I'm lazy. Just takes some time to get it right, and you will never be happy with your work, you will always want to improve and make it better.

Practice and imagination is what I use. Experimenting is the best way to develop your own style though.
