ATTENTION to virtual currency buyers!
Be careful when buying Paypal, MoneyBookers or other virtual currency (not possible via LR/Webmoney).
If you receive fraudulent (stolen) money, there is a risk that the money will be charged from your account.
Just make sure that virtual currency account belongs to the seller.

Re: ATTENTION to virtual currency buyers!
No, it's not. Some people assume that PayPal are the ones who refund it, but it's not. PayPal can't just create money, so they have to take it from somewhere and, in this case, from the legit seller who just gets caught in the aftermath of a scam.
Many people are inexperienced with online sales, and so this could help them (at some point). In fairness though, you do make a valid point. Most people do know how to use PayPal/Moneybookers etc. or they generally wouldn't be on Sythe :P

Bitcoins can't be recovered and your account can't be frozen. (for now)

Re: ATTENTION to virtual currency buyers!
This is common sense.
So tell us, how can we make sure the payment isn't fraudulent?
Answer me that and this thread will be worthwhile.

You made a good point here. How can we know if it is fraudulent?

Re: ATTENTION to virtual currency buyers!
A few things you can do to make sure its not fraudlent is:
1.Have the buyer email you from the registered email.
2. Have the buyer send you a picture of there drivers license.
3.Only accept payments from a Paypal Balance, not credit cards.
4. On paypal you can always do a chargeback and cancel, and then they cannot charge back. To do this you have the buyer send the money, then have the buyer chargeback, then have them cancel the chargeback. This is the only way that is 100% you cant get scammed( as long as its from an exsisting paypal balance.) keep in my if its from a debit or credit card they an still call there bank and cancel...

You can not, so make sure he is sending the money from his account.
Most of the time the time the fraudulent money comes from stolen accounts.

So you're telling me everyones gonna be willing to throw an ID out? I wouldn't show anyone from here my license. But if somone sends you paypal for cash in mail? What if they have a limited paypal or are worried it might get limited for so much money going in.

Only take PayPal from trusted members with proven track records. All the precautions in the world won't matter if the PayPal account is stolen or using a stolen credit card.

of course not everyone is going to be willing to. I am in the US Army, and have identy theft protection, and would have no problem showing someone my ID there is nothing on it they they cannot find out online except my drivers license number. Now my military ID with my social security number on it is a diffrent story. But I dont feel theres anything wrong with someone showing there drivers license. And it is a step I always takes when selling mass gold online.

My ex was Air Force, and yes I know how valuable that card is. My drivers license, with my address and stuff I don't need sent to anyone. Heres my main issue, not everyone on Sythe is 18, so how would they prove it's thier paypal, I also doubt everyone has a license.

Showing ID will only prevent unauthorized dispute, not INR or SNAD.

Re: ATTENTION to virtual currency buyers!
No need to ask for an ID, if you want to check does really that account belongs to the seller, look him up on Facebook/Google and ask him some questions, there are other methods too.

Re: ATTENTION to virtual currency buyers!
I've only had it happen once to me, but it wasn't someone from this site. They had paid me a bigger sum of money than I was expecting on a previous service I had done for them(I should have made that out to be 'too good to be true'). That resulted in the money being taken out of my account later on and I had to pay off the negative balance.
I generally am more lenient here and hope that people from this site are paying their own money, of course more so towards more trusted users.
