Advertising Suggestions
In my thread here I suggested that Sythe consider doing some more advertising. He seemed interested in the idea, so I decided to write up a more fleshed out plan to see what everyone thought of it. Again please read what I have to say, and post if you have something constructive to add. "Never gonna happen" is not constructive.
1: Runescape auto-talkers. I am sure that there would be plenty of people willing to run an auto-talker in the background advertising Sythe. Considering runescape is our largest market, this would be the best place to advertise, and it is basically free. We could draw up a plan for different amounts of people to advertise in different locations, in different worlds, and at different times to cover as much of the playerbase as possible. If not a lot of people sign up then maybe a $5 donation credit could be offered to anyone who advertised for x amount of time. If Sythe is interested in this I would gladly help come up with some systems to run this smoothly.
2: Advertising the Diablo 3 market. Before you Diablo 3 haters post, don't forget, d2jsp, possibly the biggest black market on the internet, was founded solely on Diablo 2. Now there is a much larger amount of people playing Diablo 3, which offers the possibility for an even bigger market. We need to take advantage of this while we can. I suggest tackling every Diablo 3 forum we can find, including the official one. Making multiple accounts to "spread the word" could really help out. I know its kind of a dirty tactic, but its free, and we are a black market after all. I also suggest that anyone who plays D3 to do your best to spread the word in-game. Join public games and tell everyone about it. This could really help the site in the long run.
3: Banners. We would need only a simple banner or two that could be like..
http://screensnapr.com/e/LFE5lX.jpg
but in the blank space add "Make real life money playing your favorite games such as:
Runescape
Diablo 3
World of Warcraft
League of Legends
Neopets
and much more!"
Now that is just an example, but something like that would really draw in a lot of people. I know that the reason I joined sythe was because the allure of making money playing runescape enticed me, and I am sure it was the same for many others too.
Now the next part is where. Where do we put those banners? Well we obviously can't put them on those game's websites, so why not hit mmo finding portals such as
http://www.mmorpg.com/
http://www.onrpg.com/
http://www.mmohut.com/
http://www.ign.com/
and any other site you deem appropriate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not only would all of these bring more people to the site, but it would also increase the profitability as well. More people = higher pay out for advertising, which makes this a win-win for everyone. It would increase the markets for every game, and would increase the diversity of people here as well. Thanks for reading.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
I'd also suggest making an official facebook page because the type of person who would actually like a Sythe page is the type of person who has friends who might be interested. It doesn't take alot of work to create one and it's a great free ad space.
In addition, I have some experience using adobe flash so I can easily create animated banner ads like the ones at the bottom of the page if you want me to

Re: Advertising Suggestions
I'll bring up the Facebook page to Richard and see what he thinks of the idea. I would gladly manage it if he would permit.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
The Facebook page is good, quite a lot of businesses are on Facebook and it's easy to get people to join.
Never, ever, ever, ever advertise by flooding on runescape...
When I played runescape I stayed clear of sites that advertised using those annoying auto typers. It shouts out that they're desperate.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
The reason I did not suggest a facebook page is because I doubt it would really benefit a runescape cheating site. Most people would be to embarrassed to show their friends that they play it. Plus facebook has been shown to not be a viable place to advertise. For example, the recent flop of facebook stocks. It is because everyone knows it is not really useful for anything, including advertising. There is no harm in making a page, but it really shouldn't be a main focus considering the other options that are much more likely to succeed.

That is a good point, but is also a very common misconception involved with all advertising. For example, when you see a car dealership commercial, and the guy is sitting there shouting ridiculous things you're of course thinking "This is just stupid", but you know what, it works. It gets the name out there, if people are pestered, it is much more likely that they will remember your name. Now also remember that I am suggesting more tasteful, organized, and tactical advertising. I am not suggesting we have 10 people sit in lumby spamming repeatedly, I was thinking more a long the lines of 1 person in each major town in major worlds throwing out a line at a constant, but not "flooding" , rate.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
If you flood RS with good advertisements that show we are a mature, developed, and not desperate place it could work. Could be a nice community event, anyways.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
Autotypers like the ones for fake bot sites are an absolute no-no.
However, branching off of that suggestion, how about an organized little clan of real RuneScape players advertising Sythe around World 6 / World 2? It may not work well, and people probably wouldn't be willing risk their RuneScape accounts, but eh.

That isn't necessarily a bad idea, but in reality it would not accomplish much. A few people might take heed and check us out, but other than that I doubt much will come of it.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
What about a Sythe blog? I am sure there are members around that would donate some space for a blog that could include things like: Game reviews, guides/cheats/hints, information on the various games we support (like information about RS updates or something), member interviews, and things like that. You can use the forum to help direct some traffic to the blog where you can also have adds to bring in more revenue for the site. You can get someone really good with SEO to get it bumped up to the top of google. Possibly something like that.

Re: Advertising Suggestions
The main thing that worries me about RS spammers is that jagex cracks down on them really fast nowadays. I'd be surprised if you couldn't run through about 5 accounts a day before they all got banned.

Yeah not many people listen to the spammers, just go straight to the ignore list.
This will unfortunately be another 'wait til VB4' as with VB4, the layout might have changed and all this brainstorming will go to waste. We'll have to wait for VB4 and then see if we can make adjustments to improve the advertising from there imo.

On my previous thread Sythe himself has said that the "After VB4" excuse is no longer going to be used.

My response to that would basically be the same as for the facebook suggestion:

Although it won't hurt, I doubt it will really help the site grow much. If anything it will just make the community in itself stronger, which is a good thing.

Twitter is different though, easier to update and less of a stalking thing like Facebook so people won't be afraid that people will check who they are following.

But who, other than current sythe members, is really going to follow it?
