Force a signature size
Hello At the moment, it is easy to go over the 650x350px signature limit. For this reason, I think that there should be a "checker" that checks you overall signature size, including text and images. If it did find that it was too large, there would be a box/message saying something similar to "Your signature has exceeded the 650x350px limit, please reduce the size." This would mean:
- No more signature size warnings
- Less work for mods
- Happier people
Thankyou.

Re: Force a signature size
It's been suggested before to have some sort of limit in place on doing them, if it could even be done I don't know how difficult it would be to do it.
If you want to check your sig size, you can use this image n4n0 made as a guide:

Re: Force a signature size
Yeah as Laptop said, you can use that picture above to check to see if your signature is in the correct dimensions. To do this you can simply copy and paste your signature into paint, and save that picture, then open up the picture and hover it over the signature and see if anything is sticking out. However I do support what you're saying, but it'll probably on the "When VB4 comes out" list though, if it can be done.

You can accidentally measure it and this would have less hastle.

Even if it does get added onto that list, it's still good

Re: Force a signature size
It would be nice I warned someone yesterday and they refused and had their sig removed and they got mad at me.

Re: Force a signature size
Support, if you can check it, there is no excuse for someone to go over the limit and would be far less over sized signatures.

Re: Force a signature size
With image only signatures, you can see the exact size of them by right clicking them and viewing the properties to see the exact dimensions.
For example if you look at the dimensions for this image, they are 184x184.

As for using text alongside your signatures, you could just print screen to Paint and move n4n0's picture over it to see if it fits inside it.

Re: Force a signature size
Would also be nice if it would be made more clear that you total signature can be 350 px height 650 px width. I got infracted once because I had a line of text above my sig which made the total dimensions pass 650x350 :|

Re: Force a signature size
If this could be implemented easily, I think it would be very useful for everybody. If your signature were oversized, it would simply display a message saying your signature is too big and the system is unable upload it. It would be handy if it displayed the current dimensions of your signature if it were over the limits, so that users would know how much they need to scale it down before attempting to upload it again.
I'm no expert, but I don't imagine this would be too hard to implement. I definitely support this if it can be done Good suggestion.
EDIT: To RunescapeJJ - I think it's fairly clear if you read the rules. Under the part about oversized signatures, it says "Maximum of 350 pixels in height including all quotes/text/pictures in it and a maximum of 650 pixels in width with all text/quotes/pictures." It might be more clear if there was a note explaining this if your user options menu by the "Signature permissions" where you edit/upload your signature. That way nobody could claim they weren't aware of this, as you would be staring at that note every time you went to edit/upload a signature.

Re: Force a signature size
This could be very useful if it could be implemented easily, if not, then manually checking your signature size isn't much of a hassle. Opening the individual image in a new tab allows the user to see it's size, and if your signature has text, a program like screensnapr works very well.

That's their own fault then, if anything he should have thanked you for giving him a warning.
If this could be easily implemented then it should be done, but then again if the person hasn't read the rules it's their own fault, it takes just a few seconds to read the sticky.
It should be a rule that if a graphics artist knows they are using the graphics for Sythe, then they shouldn't be allowed to make a big signature.

Re: Force a signature size
I support this, it would reduce the work considerably.
This will likely be put on the bandwagon waiting for VB4 though.

Re: Force a signature size
From a purely technical standpoint judging the actual size of text is a fucking pain. Images is one thing, text is another. If this happens, it would be a major project on Matthew's part unless he can find a premade plugin for that that is worth the amount he would have to shell out for it

Re: Force a signature size
i totally agree to this, especially because it would be less work for mods monitering it. however it is easy for a person to check their size so people should just be concious of it when making a sig

Re: Force a signature size
Nah, let's make the mods on this site work a lil' harder
It is their responsibility and duty to warn other members if their signature is exceeding the limit. Once someone has been informed that they need to reduce the size of their signature, then they should do so immediately. If they fail to comply within a certain time period or simply ignore it, then that's their own fault. Besides, getting an infraction for signature isn't even that serious and doesn't add onto your current infraction points I believe.

There are simpler ways such as creating/opening an image in the program Paint then going to the drop down menu Image and Attributes.
OT: It could be possible in the upcoming vB update.
I've also always been confused with text, as quoted text are much longer then the limited width.
Anyway, if this is possible then I support this.
