An Official IRC
I know the one that was up and running around a year-or-so ago was shut down, but could another official one be started up? If I'm correct, I believe it was shut down due to the relation of the IRC/off site to Sythe. What if there was a separate channel, within the IRC simply for whatever? Basically a Spam Forum.
It could be the same token-use system.
While we have the unofficial IRC, having an official IRC with a token-based ID system opens up loads of possibilities.
One possibility:
Having separate channels for trading, actually trading on the IRC knowing that the user on it is whom he/she says he is. I for one hate MSN, it's unreliable, adding people works 50% of the time, and the recovery systems for hotmail is pathetic.
There are more suggestions for the IRC it self, but the actual IRC would need to happen before anything else would be potentially implemented.
Ex:
As well, once signed in having the possibility to change to a different nick, but upon hovering over the specific nickname, their Sythe name would appear.
PS. I know there is an unofficial IRC, I'm in it constantly.

Re: An Official IRC
I don't really see the need for an official one to be honest, I mean I don't use the IRC a lot but I think the unofficial one Karl manages is doing fine on its own. I think what we have now is fine.

Re: An Official IRC
An integrated system with the forum would be great. But if anything ever is going to happen is after VB4

Re: An Official IRC
I really liked the IRC Richard set up a with the token system because of the potential it had to be a secure trading platform

Re: An Official IRC
I'd support for a new IRC, and wouldn't mind joining it from time to time either.
But there's also nothing wrong with the current one.

Re: An Official IRC
At first I didn't really see why we would need one, but you put up a very good point with the trading system you mentioned. MSN is horrible and is a very easy system to get scammed on. An official IRC would also probably bring more people together in the community.
I believe VB4 has a built-in IRC type system, but I have not heard anything about it actually being used here on Sythe. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but I really hope that something like this becomes a reality.

Re: An Official IRC
An integrated trading system would be very useful/convenient. I'm up for it if Richard/Matthew would like to incorporate an official IRC.

Re: An Official IRC
I suppose a chatbox would work, but I'd only go for it if there was some sort of multiple channels option - not something I'm familiar with in chatboxes.

Re: An Official IRC
I actually already have a working php irc client, it wouldn't be difficult to do with some database linking.

Re: An Official IRC
A chatbox on the forum would really lag out Sythe, I would love to see a IRC with a secure trading platform.

Re: An Official IRC
A chatbox is not happening, on the DNS list as well.
Like others have said above, I wouldn't mind seeing a safer way to trade be implemented, but this will have to happen after VB4 + Richard and Matthew will have to set it all up. If they're up for it, then yeah.
Why was the last official IRC stopped anyways?

Re: An Official IRC
Thanks for the feedback everyone..
As for waiting for VB4, I agree if it's actually integrated into the forum itself, but if it's just linked off, why wait? (Why wait if other's are working on it/wouldn't be much of a hassle. Matthew and whoever else is working on VB4 probably /staff members/ex-staff members who could help run the IRC.

There have been chat-boxes on other forums, and IMO it's just unprofessional (along with being on the DNS list.) As well, it's an eye sore for users that don't want to see it, and since they're generally smaller it's harder to read. Along with the physical aspects, it would also slow the server down (as stated earlier.)
It would be better to just have an IRC button in the top right where people can click, and would then open up a web-irc which requires a token. If not, have a hyperlink labeled IRC which would then link to a guide explaining about IRC, how to join it, what the tokens are, and everything else.

Certain staff/well-known members acting.. foolishly? I believe.
IMO while it would be linked, there needs to be a "care-free" chat where it's more of a free-for-all.

Re: An Official IRC
i wouldn't mind this, im in irc every time on on sythe, but would need to trusted users to moderate what goes on.
also a system where your sythe account is linked to a registered IRC tag.
i would recomend someone writing up a guide on how to register on irc, and how to tell if the person your talking to is registered user aswell, to avoid scamming etc.

I did a video guide when it came out last time, I'm sure it's still somewhere on my computer :P.
If not, I'd write one if this were to happen. If not write, I'll definitely do a video+commentary.
