One thing I have never understood is why staff are the only ones allowed to have Fun Ranks. Whenever us normal users look at staff having fun ranks its like we are observing an inside joke that we aren't allowed to be a part of! Not to mention there was a contest where so many people put time and effort into making new fun ranks in hopes that the entire community would enjoy them. I think that it would be more "fun" for everyone if:

1. Fun Ranks weren't given out as freely as they seem to be appearing

and

2. Regular members could obtain them as well

I see no reason why we shouldn't all join in on the fun as well!

Edit: I don't mean that they should just be given out to everyone and anyone, I mean that it should be an equal chance for staff and regular members alike. I am not suggesting we just start giving them out to everyone. For example if an admin decided to give out 3 fun ranks, then he should be able to choose among staff and regular members, not simply staff alone to receive these ranks.

You're sort of contradicting yourself here a little. In one breathe you're saying they're appearing too much compared to what they used to and in another breathe you're saying they should be given out more for the community.

I like the idea but I think they should still have some sort of mild requirement to earn one.

I don't see how that is contradicting. I think that they should be given out less, but among the entire community not just the staff.

I understand what you are saying, the only way to get a fun rank is to get on the staff or if you won the one and only competition there has been for fun ranks. (Which the results were so-so in.) I am on the fence on this, I think they should be given out to the community but at the same time everyone shouldn't end up with one. It should be a select group of staffers and non-staffers alike, and by non-staffers I am not including ex-staff. Right now it seems like the only way you can get them is if you are staff.

I see fun ranks as one of the "perks" of being staff, and I personally don't have a problem with it. It's a reward for doing well for a month or whenever, I don't have a problem with it to be honest.

My personal view on it is that they're unnecessary and no one is entitled to one. When people start complaining about something so silly, it should just be removed.

They used to be handed out to friends of admins... That still doesn't make them very wide spread.

I don't care if they stay or go. However, I'd rather see fun ranks be given out for fun (any member), rather than mod activity.

Yeah, I don't care if they stay or are removed. But, if they are staying, I'd like to see them given out to any member, as well.

Just remove them all together, they serve no real purpose.

I don't think they should be removed all together. Non-staff should get them as well as staff members though. There would be no written criteria but it could be based on number of helpful posts, spam reports and ban evaders reported? It's just a suggestion.

I have to agree on video on this one; if this motivates the staff to work harder/have fun then so be it. Also there are others times where non-staff can earn them through contests etc.

But seriously I think the fun ranks are fine how they are, I'm sure one day there will be another 'Make a rank contest' where people can earn fun ranks again, staff deserve to be rewarded with something for their hard work.
