Well, we need to put down some guidelines for the pure section, and the main section, its completely out of control.

I think we can easily agree that Tanks belong more in Mains, than they do in Pures.

Can we perhaps, make a rule that Tanks are to be placed in the Mains section?

We need some guidelines saying what is a pure, what is a tanker, what is a main. Since people just name it whatever they feel like. 70 defence 70 attack 70 strength is NOT a tank for instance.

Just as much as 10 defence, 10 strength, 10 attack, isn't a pure.

Possible fixes:

1 A request section for accounts? That would help clean up all the "Buying account" threads
2 A "High defence level pures" section? Since that's what people call em I guess.. Even though, to me, 70 defence isn't pure. (If you mix 25% silver, with 75% gold, do you still have pure gold?)
3 Make Tanks + barrows "pures" + zerker "pures" fit into the main category instead. Or at least just the barrows "pures"

OK this thread was alive a while ago with like 1k posts but it fell off the forums after a while. I seen a lot of people asking "what is a pure" again, or people who have incorrect information on this. I had the text saved on my computer, so I will copy and paste it, making a few changes.

This is I Mahatma I, aka Sn1p3r Twigs, and MANY other names (some secret). I have been using pure chars since before July 2002 (that was last secret word change on my oldest pure). With around 3 years of experience using pure accounts I have grown to know the world of "pures" quite well. I will try to share that info with you all.

Firstly, this is a "pure" definition based on the rs2 combat system. It is very similar to that of RSC, but in rsc magic was an independant stat also (this is explained more below). But this guide is specifically for the definition and explanation of pures in rs2, the world of runescape as we know it.

===---The Combat Formula---===

Before I define "pure", I first must explain how the combat system works. This is the formula I use, it is 99% accurate, but has sometimes been off by about 0.05 of a combat level.

Melee Formula:
(Attack + Strength) > (Magic x 1.5)
(Attack + Strength) > (Ranged x 1.5)
Combat Level = [(Attack + Strength) x 0.325] + (Defence x 0.25) + (Hp x 0.25) + (Prayer x 0.125)

Magic Formula:
(Magic x 1.5) > (Attack + Strength)
(Magic x 1.5) > (Ranged x 1.5)
Combat Level = [(Magic x 1.5) x 0.325] + (Defence x 0.25) + (Hp x 0.25) + (Prayer x 0.125)

Ranged Formula:
(Ranged x 1.5) > (Attack + Strength)
(Ranged x 1.5) > (Magic x 1.5)
Combat Level = [(Ranged x 1.5) x 0.325] + (Defence x 0.25) + (Hp x 0.25) + (Prayer x 0.125)

===---Independant & Dependant Stats---===

Now, if you look at the above 3 formulas, you will notice that they are the same EXCEPT for the first part in the [square brackets]. This portion in the sqaure brackets is what U call the DEPENDANT part of the equation, which brings me to my explanation of dependant and independant stats.

Dependant Stats: Attack+Strength, Magic, and Ranged. These stats effect your combat level depending on the other dependant stats. These are the stats that are a "pure"s best friend.

Independant Stats: Defence, Hitpoints, Prayer. These stats will ALWAYS effect your combat level. These are the stats that make you "impure".

===---What is a "Pure"?---===

With the knowledge of dependant/independant stats, you can now understant what a "pure" is:

A "pure" has HIGH dependant stats, and LOW independant stats. The lower your independant stats are, the more "pure" you are.

^^ THAT IS IT! THAT IS HOW TO DEFINE A "PURE" ^^

It is up to a matter of opinion what "high" and "low" is that makes up each persons individual opinion on pures. I personally consider Defence Above 1 high, Prayer Above 34 high, and hitpoints is just what it is.

===---Examples of Pure Builds---===

Now I will give a few examples of common character stat-builds that are often referred to as "pures".

TRUE PURE: This pure has only dependant skills, and NO independant skills. I had (not anymore because I raised hitpoints on it) a char that was a good example of a true pure. It was 70 ranged, 70 magic, 1 defence, 1 prayer, 10 hitpoints and combat 36 (Before you asked, train ranged with cannon, magic with curse/confuse/weaken).

REAL PURE: We all know it is hard to train without getting Hitpoints exp, so this is a real pure. The only independant stat they have is hitpoints. The best example of a real pure is sw0rd (name edited, wants to keep low profile) with 99 strength, 93 magic, 76 ranged, 60 attack, 1 defence, 1 prayer, 88 hitpoints, 73 combat.

PRAYER PURE: Also known as the "Prayer Beast". This type of pure has Hitpoints and Prayer (up to 43) as their only independant stats. The best example of a prayer pure is Volcanic Fox with 99 strength, 99 attack, 95 hitpoints, 45 Prayer (43-45 didn't raise combat), 1 defence, 93 combat.

Those are just a few of the common builds of "pures". There are many, and people can customize their stats and still maintain a good "purity" level.


Just remember the golden rule of pures:
A "pure" has HIGH dependant stats (attack+strength, magic, and ranged), and LOW independant stats (prayer, hitpoints, defence). THE LOWER YOUR INDEPENDANT STATS ARE, THE MORE "PURE" YOU ARE!






Btw, id be happy to help you guys clean up the forums, you could perhaps look at the spam reports I make when people misplace their threads.. I usually report them, but they just get instantly locked. So, I would technically be the black-market bouncer!

Btw I support this idea too. Clean up all the main and Random account threads that are just completely in the wrong section.
