Staff restructure
Hi all,
I am instituting an admin staff restructure. The roles of the administrators have been amended as follows:
General administrators, responsible for management of staff, staff recruiting, staff dispute resolution, IP bans, and other standard administration required to maintain the up-keep and good governance of the site. Giverny
Govind
Special administrators, responsible for technical, legal and financial upkeep of the site. This includes donations, ranks, perks and titles. Also responsible for the amendment and clarification of rules, such as is necessary that they be consistently followed by all staff and members of the site. Sythe
Matthew
Recruitment and special advisers, responsible advising the general administrators on the best new talent to recruit into the moderation teams. Sin666
Arbiter of last resort:
Sythe
In addition, please note that we have a new staff rule:
Staff must follow Sythe.org rules to the letter. Penalties will be dealt with internally, and repeated offenses will lead to dismissal.

Glad this got cleared up.
Wouldn't FireZ fall under donations?

What I was wondering..
Does this mean that instead of each of the admins doing something specific like managing staff (finn used to do solely I believe), they all will be doing this (giverny and govind)? If this is the case, I think it's a great idea. It'll mean that less bias will come into play on things like managing staff.

Re: Staff restructure
Sin hasn't agreed to return to administration. I have put her in an advisory role (which she already has been in, but not codified.) She is welcome to return to administration staff as a general administrator any time she wishes.

Re: Staff restructure
It's nice to see a definitive clarification on the structure of the administrative team.
Great work!

Re: Staff restructure
Richard, are there any recent specific instances you're referring to with the new staff rule? Or is it just a general thing you've observed over time?
...and also, what kind of things would you be talking about? Typically if a staff member broke a rule, they would always be punished. I don't recall many/any exemptions...

I agree. Not sure why it was clarified that staff must obey all rules, since I didn't see any instances of staff breaking rules to begin with. Maybe that's because they were always dealt with so swiftly, eh?
Anyhow, this is an interesting move from the strict 3-admin system we had before. I like especially how it's Sin's specific job of recruitment; that should hopefully help the never-ending complaints that sp/scam reports are never done on time.

^^
Sin was always excellent in selection and also weeding out the undesirables even when off the Staff team. I'm glad that's she's been placed in a recruiting position, as it'll ensure a much more sound, strong, and safer staff team in the long run.

Looks like some good changes that should make the forum and the staff team run smoother.

I'm also curious to know about this
Regardless, nicely done Sythe. It's definitely good to see the workload distributed among the Admins.

Glad the work was spread out more, it doesn't put a huge weight/pressure on everyone.
