Welcome to the next Edition of Staff Interviews. I haven't been able to make one for a good while due to vacation and business of school starting. Now lets get on with our interview with Finn, one of our administrators.
*Warning, massive wall of text below. Only for the strong hearted.*
Hey Finn, thanks for taking part of my interviews! When/How did you find out about sythe?
Hi. Found out about it through someone I had met on Runescape in 2007. Not a particularly interesting story.
Do you still play runescape or have you "Grown out" of it?
I stopped playing Runescape properly in late 2007, when the Wilderness was removed and such. Since its reintroduction, I attempted to get back into it briefly, but it didn't feel the same anymore. Either that or I ''grew out'' of it.
Heh, I feel the same way. When you first joined Sythe were you instantly active or when did you start getting into the community?
Instantly active - I remember for the first week or so I had something like 50 posts/day.
About when Did you become a sectional? And then how long till Global? (I know their was a different staff structure back then so the names may be different.)
I became a sectional in May 2008 and a Global some month and a half (if my memory serves me correctly) later.
How long then until you became an admin? I'm pretty sure going from global to admin is a lot different then normal promotions.
Well, after becoming a Global, I was briefly demoted to sectional and then became the Team Leader of the Runescape section, and then Global again when the Team Leader system was abolished. I eventually became an Administrator in March 2009, and so have served in this capacity for around 2 and a half years now.
Alright, well on a different topic, Are you currently in college or have you already graduated? If so, where from?
I finished Sixth Form in May and will be starting university on the 1st October.
Sixth Form is like Senior year in American School right? Also which College are you planning on attending? Which degree are you going to be studying?
I'm not going to college - I'm going to university. I'm going to the University of Warwick & am doing a degree in politics, but I have a feeling I'll switch to history when I get there.
Cool, What are you future plans after university?
I really don't know. I quite like the IDEA of diplomatic service, representing my nation as an ambassador, but, like I say, I only like the idea and have no clue as to whether that's going to be something I actually pursue.
Well after holding Sythe together for a few years you have experience with representing and leading us.
Do you believe that working on Sythe has affected your real life at all?
I'm sure it has done - Sythe.org is incredibly important to me and has been part of my life since 2007. Whilst I couldn't specifically detail the ways in which it has affected me as a person/my 'real' life, I have no doubt that it has done somehow.
Mmh, did you enjoy your earlier school years? (American system grades 1-12.)
I don't intend on responding in a way that is accessible for Americans - I am a British person and will detail my school years in the British manner. I generally enjoyed school up until Year 11, which was probably the worst year of my life. After that, Years 12 & 13 were great.
What particularity made that year bad? :/
Well, school was separated between males & females at that point, and though I've always tended to prefer male company, that year was the year that my sexuality was revealed behind my back to the entire school every night, and the boys in my year weren't very open-minded, so that wasn't a great deal of fun. I wasn't very popular that year, but I stormed back in Year 12, so it was alright then.
Oh that sucks, Would you say your sexuality was always with you or it kind of evolved over time?
It has always been 'with' me, yes.
Have you ever dated any one? (Male or female)
Yeah, I technically have done, back in Year 8 when I was like 13, but that was a girl. I've never been in a relationship with a male, no.
Cool, do you plan to ever marry or date another male or do you plan to stay single?
I don't really have any ''plans'' as such - what happens will happen. Life is unpredictable, and so it will always be.
Do you have any suggestions to some one who may be gay or lesbian but hasn't told others yet?
No. Each situation is different and so you can't make broad suggestions. I have been lucky to have inordinately liberal and intelligent parents; others, sadly, don't have that benefit, and so people have to act differently according to their respective situations. But I would say the sole common factor for all LGBT individuals is that life improves eventually.
Well I'm glad you were able to get through any tough stages. Going back to the sythe topic, do you any future plans here such as a gold shop or maybe opening a new section?
Yes, I will most likely be opening a long term gold shop as soon as I start university next month. I need a regular flow of income and I think that may be a fair option.
Sounds good, do you have a job currently or are you unemployed?
I don't have a job, no.
Alright, well that about wraps it up. Any thing else you wanna cover or say to the members reading this?
Nope.
Alright, thanks for your time and I'll talk to you later!
Okay, ciao!
