I have recently been infatuated with instrumental pieces, I find my self dwelling in Celtic music quiet frequently. I think they are masterpieces in their own right. Anyone else find any gems like the one below?

I am in fact a fan of instrumentals, I really feel music is better expressed through the sounds rather than the lyrics and more often than not the vocals do not contribute to the overall sound.

Not quite celtic, but Lux Aeterna (Link below) is an absolute masterpiece. This is more classic but provides a similar level of emotion in the music (if it bores you just skip half way)

Moving to a more modern sound - Buckethead, is an amazing guitarist. Give him a listen I provided a very good listen below.

Your point about the lyrics is strong, but I have a rather large list that counters it. If done right, lyrics can define the music in an intimate and powerful way, the problem is finding the music.

You're right, sorry I was tired last night and wasn't really thinking. If you have bands like guns n' roses with Axel, where the sound of his voice really compliments the guitar or if you take Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, where his voice matches the entire meaning of the lyrics perfectly it can really be the wow factor in a band.

Also, if you have someone like Maynard from Tool - who writes lyrics that add so much depth to the music that you actually have to sit there and think about it; then by all have include it.

I was thinking about your original question and I remembered where I'd heard a lot of it before. You can try search on youtube "irish tap dance", weird search I know, but when my sister used to do tap dancing way back I remember music very similar to this. Try out lord of the dance, link's below.
