Best lotion to use on itchy/dry skin?
I need feedback from Sythe members mainly because, for the first time ever.
My skin is irresistibly itchy.
I take regular showers on normal temperature water, not hot. I do use that Olay body wash for males. Says it moisturizes my skin.
However my skin has been extremely itchy for the past two months, and I've been scratching more and more. I'm starting to accumulate scabs and its growing worst and worse.
I went to the doctor and all they said was i gotta use more lotion. So far no good. I think i need a certain brand and i hope you guys can help!

Re: Best lotion to use on itchy/dry skin?
Try to use chemical and odour free soaps, I know for a fact that a lot of people suffer from allergic reactions and sores from overused chemicals such as Sodium Laureth Sulphate; found in almost every lotion, conditioner, shower gel ETC.
This is because almost everyone in my family has problems like this, apart from me .

Vegetable/Fruit soaps also can be less harsh than brands like LYNX.
Try to move away from the main brands of lotions, as they can be dangerous to sensitive skin on multiple occasions.
Hope I helped .

Can you provide a list of these vegetable /fruit soaps, and what brands offer them? Or lotion for that matter

I've got the same problem and I was using this hand cream that made it a bit better... I'll update in a second what it is, I'm busy right now.
EDIT: Yves Rocher, Pro Balance, Double Performance hand lotion. Got it from sears a while back, I do believe.

The little soap Co. Has numerous sections retated to body lotions, with ingredients that are 99% natural.
'Handmadenaturals' Is a great company providing skin wax, lotion and creams, I'm sure you could browse through their site:
http://www.handmadenaturals.co.uk/
You may have to ask your local chemist for more information, or be firm with your doctor and tell him you want chemical free lotion; he should re-direct you to somewhere where they are available.
Need anything? Contact me via PM.
Hope I helped,

Re: Best lotion to use on itchy/dry skin?
I do believe what I had was in the 20$ price range. Fairly good sized bottle too. A bit bigger than a stick of deodorant. I've been using it for almost a month and not even halfway done the bottle :P

To be honest, it sounds like you have more than dry skin. Your problem sounds alot like scabies.

Mine seemed like that for a while too. But now it's just dry skin. I got small red dots, kind of like pimples under the skin. It didn't look like scabies, though... Weird, what do you think could be wrong with me?
Also, maybe you should go to Sears, they normally have people that can help you out with hand lotion there. They know more about that stuff than most people here do :P

Re: Best lotion to use on itchy/dry skin?
I had very dry skin and a friend actually suggested I used cooking oil mixed with sugar. The sugar was to scrub off any roughness. I'm not sure if this will work for the itchyness, but nothing to lose right?
At first I wasn't sure about it, but as soon as I did it I could feel a huge difference. Much softer too. Hope it helps

This is what I use.
It works well for me but I just use it on my hands.

Anything with Hydrocortizone is the best.
