Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
Not sure if this is really possible, but aren't we able to have unlimited bumps if we just delete the bump after posting it?

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
Well, I think it can be (and is being) used to do just that...

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
As long as people don't do it more then twice a day then its no big deal. If you suspect it, report it and we'll look at the times of all the deleted posts

Thanks for the input. I guess that the option to delete a post outweighs the potential abuse of it, which I guess I agree with.
Do I need to PM a global, or just report a post in the thread to have it investigated? Not sure if a market mod can see when a post has been deleted.
You can close this when you've answered this question, btw.

Yes, sectional moderators can see the time and contents of posts deleted within their own section.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
Why should it be a problem?
Spamming rules are there to unsure members don't get too much post count in a short period of time and scam because some people assume post count means trust.
If they delete the post and then bump it, then I don't see the problem.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
I don't think it should be removed but should be moderated just like constant bumping of a thread without removing the post.

If they abuse it they will be dealt with. Its alright to do it but not all day every day.

How can they abuse it? Enlighten me.

Bumping, deleting, bumping, deleting, bumping, deleting, bumping, deleting, bumping, deleting, bumping, deleting, bumping
all in 1 day, that is abuse.

Someone can keep their thread on the first page ALL THE TIME using this method, and he'd never get infracted for it. It's very unfair to other threads in the section.
I always thought the "1 bump a day" rule was to ensure that the front page of the market is not a warzone of bumps. I never worried about the post count. Honestly, if this wasn't really an underhanded way to bump, I'd always delete "bump" posts because they're somewhat annoying to look at.

But if they're not getting any unnecessary post count, what is the issue? If they can be bothered doing it all day, then let them.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
Its not the post count we are worried about, its the unfair advantage over everyone else they seem to think they can get away with.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
My issue that was made in posting this is that everytime someone bumps his thread up, mine goes down. Same thing if i bump mine up; all the others go down.
It means that someone who legitimately bumps his thread once a day can only enjoy being on the front page for about an hour, before several other threads "illegitimately" bump using the delete method. However, the abuse isn't significant... I just wasn't sure if it's allowed or not. FireZ's answer of "let us know if it's getting bad" was good enough for me though. I lurk the markets enough to notice when specific threads get raised without their post count going up.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
You guys are ignoring what magic arrow is saying. If they want to bump their post all day long to the top then thats their time and they should be able to do it as long as their post count isn't going up. It wouldn't be an advantage over anyone or any thread if everyone is allowed to do it, so I don't see the problem. What would the infraction be for? spamming? The one bump a day rule is intended for post count singularly.

Threads are sorted by the last message posted, So for it to stay on top you would have to remove the previous bump and let the new one stay on there.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
Honestly, if people are willing to sit there all day bumping, let them unless it gets really out of hand. This is just because anyone can bump and delete, so anyone in theory could do it. So really a rule about it is not required as it is not a big deal. Moderators can just judge each thread individually.

Re: Delete Post = Unmoderated Bumping
I don't see a problem with it if you delete the post. The point is to eliminate spam and people delete the post, so no problem.

How is it an unfair advantage over everyone else? Everyone on the forum can do it, so no one really has an advantage.
