Default Guide To Finding New Music

Guide To Finding New Music

To start off, this is my first guide, so please bear with me if the pictures may not appear as appealing as others.
As you can already tell by the title, this is a guide on finding new music. There are many ways to find new music, but these are just my favorite ones to use. If you have any other methods to find music, please leave your suggestion/suggestions and I will edit them in.

First off, Pick a Genre you would like to explore into

METHODS:
This is what it looks like. To download, first go to the video and then just click download. Then later, click on "Explore" and the file will be in there.
  • YouTube
  • Blogs
  • Sites like Pandora, Fire.Fm, etc (Suggests music you might like based on the songs you choose)
  • Podcasts
  • Forums
  • Your house!
  • Concerts (Obviously)

YouTube
YouTube for me, is a great way to find new bands. All you have to do is type in a band you like, watch a video and click away at the related videos.

A great way to do this without having to favorite the videos is: first off, make a YouTube account. After you do this, make a playlist and name it whatever you want. As you can see in the picture, there are plenty of different bands to discover.

From there, you can learn more about the bands (members, albums, etc) just by typing their names on Google. Most of the time they should come up, but if they don't I would suggest just downloading a toolbar called Ant. It's just a simple YouTube downloader, and once you download the video you can change it to mp3 format to add to your music library.

To download, just go to the video and hit download. Then later, click on "Explore" and then your file will be in there as you named it.

Blogs
Another one of my favorite methods to finding great music(most of the time being underrated underground bands.)

It's fairly simple: Go to Google, type in any genre you would like to explore into and just add the word "Blog" right next to it.

And the great thing about blogs are that most of the time they work just like YouTube (except you can't listen to the music until you download it first, since they are all Albums, but mostly EP's) Here is what I mean:
Just click on any link and it takes you to another blog filled with tons of bands.

Sites like Pandora, Fire.Fm, etc (Suggests music you might like based on the songs you choose)

Well since I can't access Pandora anymore, I'll just tell you what it is. You basically listen to music and what it does is it suggests you new music depending on what music you chose from. I don't like it as much as the others, but hey, it does come in handy.

Podcasts

Another favorite of mine. Very easy to use and you literally gain so much information about new groups and music(and some laughs in between).

Just type in Google" ("any" genre here Podcast).Click on any page, and then there should be something that looks like this on the page:

Click on it, and open with iTunes. Next, open iTunes and click on Podcasts(should be on the left) and sit back and enjoy.

Forums

Forums are a great way to share, rate, and discuss new music, and al you have to do is either lurk or make an account (this is if some forums don't allow you to see the forum posts unless you have registered on their site). There are tons of music forums out there, so my suggestion would be to make a folder inside your favorites and name it "Music Forums" and just add a bunch for later use.

Your friends and family!

Believe it or not, most people won't even rummage through what their parents might have listened to when they were younger. This method is both fun and interesting as you find out little things about your friends and family that may come as a shock to you(not that it's a bad thing )

Just look around the house or friends house(while he is there of course xD)and just look through CD's or tapes and just listen to them. You can always ask them if you can borrow their music, so you can go home and rip the music onto your library.

Concerts

This is the funnest way to discover new music and make new friends. It's simple, buy a ticket, go and have fun!

Well as of now, that clears up most of it. Thanks for reading and keep enjoying music!
