Default Laptop slow after system recover!

I just purchased this Toshiba laptop with a 4gb ram, 320 GB Hardrive, 2MB L2 Cache (What ever that is) and windows vista premium. I then suddenly got a msn virus and then, I think a keylogger. I used my recovery disks I made and recovered it. Did not go well. It was finished, but this program called "System Cuztomization poped up and loaded. When it was finished, it restarted. Then it loaded again, and again, and again. So I saw it in the tray and right-clicked it. I click close. Then I installed some drivers with a disk and restarted. It then started to do the offical setup way. It seemed normal but I restarted it and it took more then usual. It took longer to shut down also. Internet Explorer was slower and many other things. Can a smart-tech person help me out here?

One of the worst laptops to have. None the less...

You most likely did a recovery on system files and not a format recovery. Make sure you format the hard-drive when you are doing the recovery.

You need to format the hard-drive when you do a system recovery or it will run slow.

It's not hard, just Google it.

Do a restore to factory condition. Thats basically reformatting... Since many companies make reformatting a bitch... >_>.

Instead of Windows Vista, download the RC version of Windows 7 and install that over Vista. I'm sure you'll love it (It also comes with a free anti-virus from any major brand until the RC period ends).

Running XP over Vista? How computer illiterate are you?

You don't run anything over Vista unless it is Linux.

I did, Choose the option of deleting everything on the hardrive. I heard somewhere that reforrmating your computer can create clusterse which can make it slow. Anything on that? And 1 more thing: SUF: How do I restore to factorry conditions?

If you don't know what you are doing you have a possibility of reformatting it wrong, i.e not choosing the correct settings which would make it slower the it is not.

if you have a d (recovery partition) then viruses can jump between partition you should completely reformat it and do a fresh install of an os, or since you don't seem so good at computers (no offense) get somebody irl that knows what there doing to do a fresh os instlall.
