Default Would this work?

My computer is kinda shagged.

I got 2 HDD's, a 300GB C: and a recovery D:

I was wondering, I have around 150GB of stuff I need to keep, so would this work:

Partition my C: so that all the data I want to keep is on one partition and everything else is on the other part.
Then reinstall windows and everything, to the part of the C: without my data on that I want to keep

Would this work or not?

And also, what's the purpose of my D: recovery drive, it has all the windows files/folders on and basically if anyone could give me a link to explain to me what everything does, and how I could go about what it is i want to do.

Other things I'm unsure of, if I reinstall windows, would my wireless keyboard/mouse still work? through the reinstall?

I'm totally confused.

AS far as I know, you can't partition a drive in half, keeping some of the files and deleting others, and even if you did, how would you re-install windows on top of the files you want to keep?

My suggestion : Create a new Partition, backup all the files you want onto that partition, re-install windows, copy the files you wanted.

Your recovery drive is if Windows has some error, you can go into Recovery Mode (I think it's called that) and use that to re-create your computer the way it was when you got it (it only takes 15 mins as opposed to an hour or so). This doesn't work if the drive is corrupted, however (From personal experience).

You can use something like Partition Magic to partition a drive with data on it. However, there has to be enough empty space on your drive for that new partition.
