Is there something wrong with me?
My Symptoms:
* I hear and see things that aren't there.
- I hear footsteps following me, and hear noises that aren't being made, rarely I hear voices (if I hear them I hear them say my name things like that)
- I see creatures in the shadows, stuff like that.
* I don't like reality.
- I kind of live in my own world, In my dreams, my day dreams, and in my thoughts I imagine the world different and I'm never myself.
* Sometimes I get lost in my own world and it takes a while to get back into reality.
* I feel like people or things are following me.
- If I'm driving and car follows me for a mile or more I start to freak out and I try and lose them. Same if a person is walking behind me.
* I go from angry to hyper sometimes.
- I'm kind of hyper but I'm not ADHD.
* I don’t like to socialize I’m not very good at making friends.
- In elementary school I had basically no friends, middle school I had one friend and that in the eighth grade, I made more friends in high school but I never went to parties, and I barely hung out with friends after school.
* I talk very fast sometimes, I always talk to myself, I will have conversations with myself and I talk as me and someone else (if that makes sense).
* I was told that I had major depression, and I would wing myself off of the meds that the doctors gave me, I hate meds they make me feel weird.
* I have an angry personality sometimes, sometimes I’m happy, sometimes I’m hyper.
* I don’t like most people, when someone makes me mad I just think about wanting them to die.
* I will have weird thoughts – like I had a friend tell me that they were going to learn how to surf and all that popped into my head was how they could die, like smashing into rocks or something. ( it is very scary and I can’t stop it from happening this happens all the time).
* OHHH… I hate germs I don’t like people touching me, like shaking hands, hands are gross..
Those are most of my symptoms.
My Past:
OK... it all started when my parents got a nasty divorce. When this happened I lived with my father he had custody. A year later he committed suicide. I was in the 5th grade. I completely shut down, I hated everyone and everything. I then had to live with my very alcoholic and verbally abusive mother, (she is an angry drunk). A year later I was forced to move to Arizona to live with my aunt and uncle. I hate to make new friends and I really never did I was still in the shut down mode and I was only able to make one friend those middle school years. I then had to move back to Oklahoma to live with my mom who was now sober (but not for long). She started drinking again and I was forced to pay many of the bills, I even bought my brother and my own Christmas presents. I now live with my Grandparents. My mom tried to commit suicide 3 times and is now in prison. When I shut down I don't think I rebooted right. The more I think about my life the more I want to end it..
What do you think?????????????????????????

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
sounds like you may have any combination of the following:
schizophrenia
schizoid personality disorder
post traumatic stress disorder
specific phobia (germs)
just get on medication. that will help relieve your symptoms
btw, im getting a degree in psychology.
i just finished getting an A in a class that specializes in the diagnosis of these sort of things

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
the symptoms of schizophrenia are only helped by medication
therapy doesnt really help with something like this
another thing.
your trauma may not be the cause of your disorder.
schizophrenia has a largely genetic basis.
that doesnt mean that therapy cant help you with your past issues.
but ar
airing your past issues may not cure the problems that may stem from them.

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
As long as he doesn't become a violent person, isn't it possible to deal with a situation like that without medication?
Surely there has to be schizophrenia people out there that don't take medication that live perfectly normal lives, seems to me like if you don't listen to the voices, you'll be fine.

You can't fully incorporate yourself in society as a schizophrenic without meds. My mom's friend didn't take his and he would yell at himself and shit, he actually got fired from his job as a carpenter because he couldn't control his own mind; he'd day dream frequently and talk to himself which freaked out customers and his co-workers.
He turned into one of those alcoholics that's useless, smokes too much, drinks too much and does drugs, smells like shit, and lives in a shitty bachelor apartment using the small amount the government pays him in disability as his living money. Not something you'd want to be, OP.
He felt the same way about meds, they made him feel weird, but to be honest that's the only way you'll create a future for yourself if you become diagnosed with schizophrenia. My sister's bf's mom is also a schizo but takes her meds and she's pretty successful. She doesn't like them either so while she's on vacation and stuff she lays off it, but for work she uses them.

its sad, but for schizophrenia you need medication, not necessarily therapy.
thats not to say that therapy doesnt help at all

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
It sounds a lot like Schizophrenia. Yes, I also do psychology.
Rather than asking people online, whilst they might be helpful in some ways, aren't going to provide the best help available. Go to a psychiatrist.

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
schiz·o (skĭtˈsō)
noun pl. schizos schiz·os
Offensive Slang
A schizophrenic person.
the word schizo has been used in the popular media to derogate people with schizophrenia.
it has, for example, been used as a movie title for a film about a person who goes crazy and murders people.
also, there is a thing called the schizoid personality.
you could also have been referring to this with the word schizo.
for the sake of specificity, please use the proper terms.

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
It's just slang, only offensive slang depending on the dictionary you use. Don't drag something out for the sake of trying to be right.

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is defined by the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as "...a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood
your not anti-social
your more like a schizoid, like me.
go look up schizoid personality disorder
also, there is a genetic link between schizoid-ism and schizophrenia

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
With what you've gone through in your life it would be hard to think something WASN'T wrong with you but you seem like a pretty good guy just in a bad spot. I'm not an expert on psychology or anything by any means but from what i researched you might have schizophrenia and almost all people who get medication for it can live a normal life and they seem to stop worrying about everything like you seem to be doing. I would try this step first to see if it worked, but if ya just need someone to chat with anytime of the day just pm me and i'll be happy to just chat about your problems or whatever you'd like to talk about if itll help ya loosen up.

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
I believe you need to sleep and pray about it to be completely honest with you. I hope you start feeling better. Some of those things I can relate to though, such as visualizing people's demise - every-time I drive when I'm about to go through a curve and there is a guard rail I always visualize myself busting through it and falling off the edge. It's always very vivid. The reasons for these thoughts is that you have a very intuitive mind which projects a scenario that would happen in real life which is very much the same as seeing people, and hearing things. I, too, have seen people sitting on my furniture in my living room at night when there is little to no light. They always look at me. One of my greatest fears is someone being in my house knowing everything about me. So sometimes I will hear "Hayden" whispered very softly but sharply. I FIRMLY believe this is Satan utilizing his power to know your fears and trying to get inside your head. Guard your heart.

spirituality can help, but i dont think that believing that your hallucinations are the devils work is progressive.
there is a difference between a hallucination and an idea of a possible future event.
you see. memories do not produce the vivid realness that we perceive in, well, real objects.
that is simple. dreams produce this vivid realness that you describe. most people do not experience memories or ideas of a hypothetical situation in such a vivid manner.
and your not using the phrase project right, when speaking in psychological terms.
you sound like a paranoid-schizophrenic. get help dude.
there is no proof of satan. there is proof that anti-psychotic medicine can help lessen your symptoms.

No offense, but worst advice ever.

*psychologist.
Psychiatrists are just drug dispensers.
In response to OP, you could very well be normal and just be suffering from trauma and have a creative mind. Many people tend to just shut down and label people that are different.
My advice is to see multiple psychologists to diagnose if you're actually suffering from a mental disorder(s). Meditation and self-reflection also helps greatly, YMMV.
Hope all is well.

"creative mind[s]" don't create hallucinations.
when have you EVER heard of a psychologist using that kind of terminology to refer to people experiencing hallucinations.
"Hey peter, I am hearing voices calling my name and seeing people that aren't there."
"It's ok paul, you just have a creative mind"
do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?
also, telling someone to take medication for schizophrenia is the worst advice ever?
