If he got banned for doing what every merch clan does I don't think the selling of merch cc ranks should be allowed on Sythe. Every merch clan technically scams the public as they do dump before they inform the public non-ranks or they dump below the price they tell these non-ranks to dump the item at.

I support, Selling something such as a rank I see could be very controversial and should not be supported here. We cannot control something such as this as much we can control normal trades.

Even in the case of plznate, in order for public merch clans owners and ranked members to profit they dump before they tell the public and since that is considered scamming by the staff then it should not be allowed. Even though I would not mind buying a rank from him the rules should be the same for everyone.

Edit: Also if these people who are selling ranks have a legitimate and successful merchant clan they can just sell merch stock like Plznate does.

Support, all merching clans will end end up in scamming sooner or later.

Not every merch clan dumps early. Some profit simply by making an item rise to 3x-6x its original price, then they sell the junk off with rares like partyhats. Although I have to say, every time I see someone selling merch clan ranks, it winds up being a scam in the end

That is rarely the case and half the time the clan ends up being a failed cc with no stock at all, dies out in a few days and you get scammed.

100% agree.Most of them are scams, and people get scammed out of there cash.

look at smokin mils there legit high ranks will even show their stolk if u ask them nicely believe me t hey dont dump early

I am not sure what to think about this ... i mean its common knowledge that all merch clans are essentially scams whether its dumping on the "public" who are usually kids just trying to make a quick buck or selling it on the RSOF disc forums using "street price" as the vehicle to move your 6x'ed junk b/c someone really wants a purple and doesn't mind losing 500m+ in the trade to get that street value.

In the end, no one is coercing those idiots, for lack of a better word to merch with clans like 2lum, wefightge and moola mash ... investing with clans like this is a gamble but if you're the public, you join in hopes of dumping before the private clan does.

So what I am trying to get across is, as long as people like PlzNate who i trust would not scam me[dont know about zephyr] ... are taking care of their paid members and screwing over the general public who are essentially willing participants in that game of russian roulette, who are we to get in their way?

Lets say there are 5 ranks that tell you they have 500k of an item[2.5m of an item] -- but when it comes time to dump their private stock, they all dump 400k of it on the market[2m], and then just trade the other 100k between each other whenever someone wants to see it. they can each still show 500k while only being in risk for 100k which is covered by the profits they made selling their 400k.

Hope that made sense. Every little show of faith they put in place has a trick behind it to get the public to believe they are legit ... have to look beyond the face value of what they show you.

I understand what your saying but if one person is banned or given a Twc it should not be allowed for the rest. To be honest if someone has a successful merch clan they can just sell stock that way every one benefits, less chance of a scam taking place and the seller will actually profit more. It's a win win

See bolded above. My partners and I have never dumped on a clan, never will. The truth is, when you actually run a good clan, there would be no way for you to "dump" on the clan (If I were to dump on the clan, there is no way they could absorb the 5 billion in stock that I eould dump, and it would crash the merch). As such we make it rise until it no longer becomes profitable or the rise is too hard, then we announce the dump, and we junk trade ours off with rares. We never sell our item via the GE, or to the clan members when we want to dump.

So yes, there are morally correct merch clans. Zephyrs is not one of them.

So then how do we avoid people like Zephyrs? I still think there should be some kind of rule to prevent it

Although I have adamantly fought all those rank selling threads (including pinjur's current one, which is another scam clan run by the same banned members like zephyr and his cronies), unless you completely ban their sales, then it is difficult to monitor them.

For example I can typically find out who runs what clan and what previous names they had, or who they are associated with, however that is not sufficient proof on Sythe to shut the thread down. Its way too easy to just close the clan, make a new account, and move the old clan into the new one and begin selling ranks for it.
