Add a physical activities / Sports / Outdoor forum...
Why?

Thats why. A section such as this has been suggested numerous times by many different people. This shows interest, which is what makes a section active.
Sports Section.
Sport's Section
Sports Section? Need LOTS of votes!
Add a Sports Section? Forum Gold?
Sports Forum
Sports/Hobbies forum (read)
sports section
Outdoors and News section
Sports Section.
Sports Section
Those are all suggestions for a sports forum. Now, what are the staff responses to these suggestions?

However, there are so few that it does not need a forum to itself. Just keep posting in General Discussion, and if there is an obvious need for a sub forum for sports, then it will be made more than likely.
But not until it is needed.

Also, I believe this is on the DNS list.

Now, there is one quote in particular that I would like to bring attention to:

Now, I would like to ask, Why does the staff get to make the call? A sports section isn't something that moderators can properly judge. Its obvious that the idea its self is plausible. It isn't a major rule change, or saying that Plznate shouldn't be banned. It is a simple suggestion, by the users, in order for the users to have a place to discuss what they want to discuss. How does the staff's judgement come in to play there? It doesn't. The users make this forum, not the staff. The staff are in place to help the community by moderating it, not by dictating what should be done and what shouldn't be done.
My Suggestion:
Give the users the power to decide. Make a community vote to decide whether or not to add this section. All of the staff's posts on the suggestion threads have been about the section not being active enough to warrant being a section. However, other sections have been allowed a chance. Literary Arts, Homework help. Why can't the sports section be given a one month trial, if the users decide that they want one? Whats to lose?
Nothing. If the section isn't active, then remove it. If it seems active enough after one month, then let it stay. It isn't fair for the staff to up and decide to not let the users have what they want just because they think the users wouldn't use it. It doesn't make sense.

Completely support. We've added Literary Arts, Homework Help, and even Aion. I'm sure the Sports section will be very active and have a lot of interesting conversations and topics to post on.

I've always thought a sports section would be fairly active, especially if you group it together with physical and outdoor activities.

This is what SuF and the rest of the USC team were thinking when we considering the suggestions.
I know Ryan and other staff members have been against the suggestion in the past because they have noticed other forums have not been able to maintain active sports sections, but this is why SuF recommended a 1 month trial.

Support. I think it'd be best if we just generalize it to 'Physical and Outdoor Activities', as Skele said.

The name doesn't really matter. Generalized is good, as activity is an issue.

I don't see why the staff has said it wouldn't be very active. I love sports, as does the majority of Sythe. I completely support this idea.

I support as well. Kind of one of those "why not" sorta things. I think it will be more active them some of our current forums. Some of the mos common things teens do: Video Games, Sports, School.
So yes, I'd support.

Re: Add a physical activities / Sports / Outdoor forum...
Obviously I support. A Sports/Outdoor Activities/Etc section promotes a healthy lifestyle which I'm sure many people on this forum should indulge in. Sports alone should not be the only thing to discuss in there, but weight loss, muscle building, healthy eating, etc should all be part of this forum.
We have a large market of teens here, many of which do not know what to do with their bodies. Allowing for all sorts of physical activity discussion in a particular forum, I would imagine, would get very popular very fast. Even I would use it, and I won't so much as look at a football.
I also believe previous approaches to adding this section were handled poorly. The staff should not be the ruling factor for adding new sections as they are obviously not capable of being objective of things like this. Finn, for instance, is not the most physically active person, so I would imagine his vote would be opinionated towards that (no offense intended Finn, but it's just how it is :P).
There has been countless discussions all across the forums about physical activities, sports, etc, and many of them have garnered several pages of content. I can't see why this would be denied, at all.

I support this fully. Sport is a widely discussed topic on Sythe, and that's plain to see. I'll try and get the go ahead for this, but no promises.

Re: Add a physical activities / Sports / Outdoor forum...
I've always wanted a Sports section. I think it would be fairly active. A couple of times I've wanted to make a thread regarding a sport but refrained from doing so because I didn't think it would fall under off-topic. Completely support.

Plznate is a scammer. I do not support his unbanning. Neither should you.
On the 9th of August, 2012, Finn was finally banned. This signature piece is a dedication to all those he banned from the site unjustly. To all the moderators he removed from staff because he didn't like them. To all the people he framed. To all the users he tricked into donating to him. To all the power he abused. To all the Scammers he promoted. To the site that he ruined for so many people.

I also support. I love sports and I bet we could get the section going.
Combining outdoor activities and such is also a good idea.

Just got the word from Sythe and this is going ahead as soon as AdminCP decides to stop being a pain in the ass.

Thanks a ton. The entire idea is to expand Sythe.org and this may well help. Hopefully grab a few market peeps and get them to other sections.
