Gold Selling Sticky.
Given the amount of Paypal chargebacks that have been going on I think that there should be a sticky in the gold buying section which warns users of such a threat in the title and further links to more information regarding chargebacks. I believe this would be much more effective than the current link in this sticky.
Thoughts?

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
It's only a sticky, sure I would support that. Although scams will unfortunately still occur on a regular basis. However it would be great in making people more aware of PayPal and how it can be used fraudulently. Support.

I would assume that would be enough of a warning to avoid paypal, and Paypal: Chargebacks and Limitations would describe chargebacks, I don't really see a reason to warn people of using paypal, I've personally always received or sent via paypal never had any chargebacks, if you trade the right people you won't experience it and its better for the sticky to warn of high prices rather than to warn about using paypal.
Edit: I'm pretty sure that high priced buying offers sticky was in the selling section as well before.

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
Yes, I included that sticky in my original post.
The "If you trade the right people" argument is invalid though as if everyone traded the right people there would be no scams. That's why we're here to warn them.

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
There could be a sticky about tips to avoid/win most chargebacks. I have won any disputes I have received so I would be willing to share some tips, but as a whole its not only paypal it can happen anywhere there is a credit card being used for the transaction.

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
Yes, but the difference between that and other methods is that Paypal is a major payment platform on the site. I do like the idea about the sticky on avoiding and winning chargebacks.
And really.. If this saved one person from being scammed it would be a good idea in my books.

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
Having been asked to mm large paypal transactions many times, I can tell you that a surprising amount of people don't care if you tell them that paypal is unsafe and that any and all payments can be reversed. They'll find some way to rationalize trading the guy, or they'll just accept the risk. I think only once has someone I informed of this actually said "Wow, really? Ok, thanks, I'll be more careful".
I think between the countless people who ignore stickies and the also-countless people who ignore warnings, editing the title of a sticky isn't going to change anything

This is how I view it as well. I MM'd a green partyhat trade a little while back and I warned the user that the offer he was getting was a bit overpriced and that PayPal can ALWAYS be charged back and he just said, "it's fine I know don't worry."
I don't see how a change would hurt, but it's not really necessary.

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
Sure, it would help some people out I'm sure, and even if it didn't, well they'd have to learn the hard way then.
Also the problem with "high price offers" sticky is the newbies for one are not even relatively aware of the general price of gp. Secondly, it's a volatile figure, especially with all the recent updates. Thirdly, the actual value of gp is always distorted because of the all the gp flippers. The price at what they sell gold isn't what I would consider the value, but it is probably what some would consider "high price", hence it's hardly a deterrent.
If it was relative to the fact that people can always charge back, I'm sure it would grab more attention. I remember not so long ago it was generally considered by many, including myself, that Paypal could not be reversed if it was gifted. Of course, this is not true.

Re: Gold Buying Sticky.
Support, there are a lot of charge back issues and its an easy fix to alert people to the very real possibility of it happening.

Support, although it will probably only put a dent in preventing scams.

Re: Gold Selling Sticky.
Just saying, people can make a paypal account with reletively fake info and once money is recieved send it to your main personal pp account. For some limits to be removed a prepaid creditcard works therefor in the event of a charge back your 99% fine.

Re: Gold Selling Sticky.
I suppose you should just have a market mod go ahead and edit it, it's nbd - However I think it should also state that paying as a Gift actually makes the payment more risky for the seller

Re: Gold Selling Sticky.
May as well add it in, no harm can be done by it. But I doubt it will change much since using a credit card there are always ways to do a chargeback.

Well I was thinking it as more of a prevention technique.
