Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
I know these are really tiny changes, but right now this is annoying the fuck out of me
1. Make the external link URL bolded, so it is more obvious what it is. This is simply a matter of adding <b> tags around the link text. This will make it more readable and obvious what you are going to
2. Make the external link URL clickable, so that instead of looking for the Yes, Continue link every time, You can just click the link text and it will take you to the destination
Should take about 5 minutes to implement IMO

Re: Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
I definitely agree. There needs to be a whitelist made as well. Doing scam reports is a pain in the ass when I have to try and open 20 imageshack links >.<

Just tell them to [IMG][/IMG] if they must.

Well, I had suggested something similar to making people use [IMG] tags a long time ago ( reference). Basically, it was denied because people don't know how to use [IMG] tags, and people thought that it'd be too much of a hassle to teach newcomers.
If the staff have to go on clicking through 5-10 links to view images, I don't foresee moderators doing scam reports often.
In addition to this, by implementing a whitelist for those URLs (picture URLs), people would get infected less. If they click on a link that redirects to a malicious website, they'd get the external redirect warning from www.sythe.org ("Are you sure you want to leave.") However, if they click a valid link, they'd automatically go to the picture website knowing that it is safe. Although this isn't really the use of the external redirect, I believe it's a good side-advantage.

Re: Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
Is there any way to implement a whitelist of users who do not have to go through that page?

I support the image sites being whitelisted I guess, but not youtube or any google image link.

Re: Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
Yes, trusted photo uploading sites should be white-listed, but others leave off the whitelist, this could save a lot of phishing scams from Sythe. Support, would be very useful.

The redirect only applies to external links, all internal are trusted. (so anything related to sythe.org)

A whitelist config exists, but this thing was added only yesterday so Matthew probably hasnt decided to go into much detail yet

I worded it badly, but I was referring to expanding the whitelist, I already assumed Matthew coded one. Like stated in the thread, adding image hosting websites would be a good idea.

Re: Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
There is also a problem that when you try and right click + "Copy Email Address" (a feature on Chrome, not sure if it's on FF or IE). Now, it recognizes all emails as external links, meaning I have to highlight it manually. Not a big issue, but it was always really nice to just use two clicks and get an email copied.

There's no point in protecting youtube, as Google don't really host malware, but some videos contain virus links in the description, but people well get there.
This is to prevent phishing and java drive by's malware sites. No people reading a vids description(Their own fault if they download)
Youtube should be whitelisted.
How do I get my domain whitelisted? (As I use it for TinyGrab, the screenshot software I use)

Re: Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
I support to the appearance and the whitelist. Whenever I check out some scam reports, I am always annoyed by the external redirect for Screensnapr, tinypic, imageshack, etc.

Re: Tiny External Link Redirect Edit
When I posted the idea originally I anticipated the redirect page featuring some additional information about the person who posted the link to help the user decide if they want to proceed. ex: poster's name, ranks, post count
In my mind it would look basically how it does right now with an additional couple lines in the middle along the lines of "This link was posted by:" then a short snippet of the poster's info like a super minified version of the user profile page.
Sorry had to post here because my original was closed and I don't really see the need for another thread.
